Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

He only moved to RW after Bobb was replaced, he was equally shit in midfield, Bernie is only useful these days when you're winning and need to keep the ball, you can't count on him when you need a goal.
Bernado should have been sold in the summer.

He’s been a very good player for us, but he was our worst player by some distance last season and he no longer has the legs to play in midfield at the highest level.

Instead of moving him on, Guardiola made him captain. That’s the sort of decision which explains why teams like Spurs are turning us over these days.

I don’t think we can move him on. No one wants him, he’s a 50yr old trapped in 31yr olds body. His mind and body look completely fucked

Totally agree..love bernie, he has ran through brick walls for us in his time - thats why pep loves him

But lets be honest, he cant do it anymore. Lost the ball today and didnt either have the strength or legs to do it

Sad to watch it play out

At what point do we start to question him?
Writings been in the wall for 2 years, limped across the line to win the league and were shocking against the shite in the final and its got worse since.

Football changes very quickly and pretty much all top coaches get caught up and over taken, i fear thats whats happened with pep. He hasnt evolved at all

I see a Wenger situation where we hold on too long and then the road back is a long one

Thomas frank today comprehensively out coached pep.

Legend, best manager of all time, gave us the most successful period in our club history and he loves the club.

I’m confident that when he knows he’s not our best option, he will leave and he will leave us set up as best as he can.

And that time isn’t yet - can’t wait for him to prove everyone wrong… once again

The worst thing for me is that we actually looked somewhat reminiscent of Arsenal under Wenger. Some nice bits but ultimately a really soft underbelly.

I'm staggered as to the subs in the second half. Cherki wasn't great but to bring on Bernardo and then move him to the right was a serious head scratch moment.

Said it last season he's turned into wenger and got called all sorts .....

He has gone full Wenger ... refuses to chance to todays pace and power game ...

Hes been unreal but the fact he was going to go last season but decided not too for me is an issue if He refuses to see what's infront of him ....

We got beat 4-0 in the exact same fixture last season. Calm yourself down.
Yeah but we actually had a go in that game and fashioned chances... we were utterly pathetic in this, it was like watching a relegation threatened side in damage limitation mode in that second half. Beyond pathetic gutless toothless shite.

He is evolving, look at the lineup today, he’s brought in Klopp’s number 2, he isn’t arrogant enough not to evolve - and he has earned the right to be if he wanted to!

There’s going to be some growing pains, and today it was us going direct and trying to play quicker which caused us keep losing the ball… at one point in the second half we had 25% possession.

Today we missed a few big chances, made 2 mistakes which we were punished for, lost an important player to injury for whom we have no adequate replacement and then played sloppy afterwards.

We don’t have to overreact.

When has he proved us wrong?
Love the guy but its been turgid for 2 years.

Last years utter disaster of a summer re transfers has set us back so so much, and that was down to him.

Hows he leaving us set “best he can”? That makes no sense

I hope your right but he had all of the back end of last season to sort it out ...

It appears he's stuck with the same plan I just can't see him turning it around, he won't change the way he plays end of .....

Im not over reacting. Simply asking when we start to ask questions.

Theres a pep cult situation that means we darent ask. I worry we will leave it much to late

Is he though .... tactically he is treading water

I think, and i hope I'm wrong, he may have been thrown off by Spurs approach.

Because the line up we played, similar to Wolves in a sense, assumed Spurs would sit back and so RAN and Lewis makes sense to overload in numbers.

But Thomas Frank brought his press to Spurs and Pep already solved this at the end of last season when he used the 4222 with Nunes and O Reilly as wide fullbacks.

It perfectly baits the press and beats it with fullbacks and split strikers.

Pep has proved people wrong many times, he had one poor season last year that’s it. The recruitment was shite and he definitely trusted some of the old guard too much, but that’s not only him - that’s Txiki, Ferrari, Khaldoon… they’re all involved in that side of things.

I think when he leaves he will leave us with a young squad who are set up for long-term success, he won’t prioritise short-term success at the risk of jeopardising the club’s future - the opposite of what Ferguson did.

The transfer window has been good, last weeks performance was great, a lot of noise coming from players and coaches has been positive - today was poor yes, but there’s still plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

not sure how many times he needs to play and get beaten by Thomas Frank to know what to expect, spurs midfield is packed with strength and athleticism. Their full backs and wingers are just speed merchants so we decided to stick with people like Lewis. It’s insanity
