Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Yep, Ederson was great in the same match last season....0-4...saved a pile of goals...oh, hang on...
Been here 8 years so allowed the odd blip. I wish Trafford well but not totally convinced. We could have Yashin , Banks and Buffon in net and we’d still lose to Spurs.

With the exception of Rodri, it was probably our best team out there. Think people need to be realistic about expectations. The gap between us and everyone else is not where it was two years ago and I don’t think it’ll ever be like that again.

My god, that was shite. All that ridiculous hype from last week when we managed to beat a dog shit Wolves was embarrassing. Then today not one player played well. The new players were worse than poor. Trafford in goal, really? Might as well put my mum in there as he is like a rabbit in the headlights. Stones has completely lost it now. If he retreated any more he’d have to pay to get back in. No aggression, no strength. Khusanov has looked better than him. But my biggest gripe is with the manager. His time to go has definitely passed. He is too predictable. Too arrogant to change. Too boring. And clearly has lost the ability to motivate his players. Where has the fire gone that we used to chase teams down and bully them off the ball and then attack with such ambition and authority? In fact opponents have completely turned that on us now. Etihad was once a fortress. It’s now a mud hut. Albeit, a very expensive one. Even though Dias has just signed a new deal, when did he last have a good game looking like the Rolls Royce he used to be? I’m off watching Bury on Monday and I bet that’ll be far more positive and entertaining. Come on you Shakers!!

Not just Rodri , Foden as well, hes 10x the player Marmoush is

Just felt stale, off of it, second to everything.

Anyone slagging Spurs off as shite need to take another look. They are levels above Wolves whom everyone was salivating about our performance against.

Its new pieces and chemistry is not instant.

Feel we should have started the same lineup as last week.

-I had a sinking feeling when Bernie came on and TBH he seemed so slow and out of the game.
-Can't blame Erl as the crosses to those hearers were miles from ideal.
-Marmoush was a step slow and off all game.
-Reijnman simply was not at it today.
-Cherki seemed to come around and again .. may have been better coming on than starting.
-Gonzo seemed okay IMO.
-Bobb was decent seemed to settle in later.
-Stones far better than Dias but, being honest... Dias will have to have a good steady positive run before i trust him again. Once Gvad is fit its Stones/Khus/Akanji and him as pairing IMO.
Withholding judgement on Lewis he seemed to be working hard.
Ake well out of form which is understandable.
-Foden showed some promise but too little too late.
-No opinion on Rodders as honestly i covered my eyes every time he was on the ball fearing he'd get injured.

--Doku. Another game, player's the same. Jink, juke draw 2 or 3 defenders... no end product. His last run was good just no conversion.

--Trafford is not a top tier #1 at this stage in his career. This gig is not the place to figure it out.

It's going to take time and you can be sure if Pep isnt for once ready to stretch his set up to accommodate... we'll be going nowhere fast and this board will be a fucking miserable place.

I lulled myself into thinking we'd magically be world beaters again but most of that is arrogance bred from our recent domination.

I simply can't allow the disappointment of an in.the.grand.scheme.of.life meaningless game dictate my well being.

Go City- betters days ahead. 3 pts vs Bxton and breathe.

Give Pep some credit.
He went with the new players and a very attacking side at home today against Spurs.
It didn't work with a well organized Spurs team.
We need to give Frank and his players some credit.
Spurs are a bottom half team who put all this summer’s transfer eggs in one basket and dropped it.

Quality teams will deal pretty easily with them I would imagine

We just looked so leggy in all areas. Bernardo looked knackered after only being on for 10 mins. Lost almost every 50/50 challenge. Our passing was wayward and some of our close control was abysmal.
Regroup and onto next week. It can’t get much worse than today.
All signs of a team that is not match fit yet and new players trying to understand the system and each other. It will come.

We are simply not a great team anymore. Our era of dominance is over. It happens to them all eventually. Liverpool and United dominated eras but it doesn't last forever. Now it's our turn for it to come to an end.

No killer instinct anymore either. 3 years ago I'd fully expect us to get something from a losing position, just because of the killer mentality we had. We no longer have it. Players are laughing and smiling on the bench or having craic with opposing subs while we're losing.

The city era is over. Frustrating times ahead.
Ah well at least we had an era. We’d have killed for an era before our era

That's ohe of the most demoralising opening home games of the season I have seen. Pep needs to make massive changes. Reijmderd snd Bobb are class. Trafford, Gonzalez, Rico and Cherki were awful. Marmoush is not a left winger.

I can not see that City team competing for the top 4 let alone the title. Spurs were better than us in every area of the pitch with the exception of Bobb and possibly Stones.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Fucking hell, it's one defeat at the start of the season.

If I was you I'd give the Samaritans a call.

FUCK OFF! I want Eddie to stay.

Clowns have blamed Ederson for years and now blame Trafford and hope for Donnarumma papering over cracks when he's even more shit with the ball and Enrique clearly wants a keeper than can play better with his feet.

Hope Donnarumma fucks off to the rags!
Ye and we keep Trafford and Ortega

Our transfer business has been atrocious over the last few seasons. We need to own that fact, because it's evidenced on the pitch.

Grealish - may seem unfair but he was the club's record signing and he's been shipped to Everton before his contract ends, ultimately hasn't worked.

Trafford - good shot stopper but the rest of his game looks sub par. Very early days but I don't see it with him.

Khusanov - started reasonably well for us but has since become the invisible man. Bewildering.

Reis - meh.

Marmoush - will fluctuate from average to good, he'll sporadically knock in some bangers but will never be consistent.

Gonzalez - definition of a nothing player, would be brilliant against ten cones but a midfield that actually moves expose his limitations.

Kovacic - neat and tidy but his best days are behind him and he can't stay fit.

Savinho - shown some signs but looks like he's off.

Doku - probably the worst winger in the league.

Gundogan - hasn't contributed a thing since his return.

Cherki - will be brilliant but he's gonna need experience alongside him.

Reijnders - see Cherki.

Ait Nouri - gonna be class

Gvardiol - class

That's not alarmist, it's the harsh truth. And that's before we address the Palmer shaped elephant. Factor in Rodri getting back in shape, Foden trying to rediscover his game, Bernie deteriorating, and a manager that looks like he's struggling to evolve, and what we're left with are performances like today. I will say this, if Rodders doesn't get back to his best we're in shit of an unfathomable depth. I do think Lijnders will reenergise Pep and freshen up ideas, but today was concerning.
