Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I find it incredible that last season we suffered due to the lack of Rodri and yet again decided to ignore the fact we don’t have a CDM.
exactly and lots presume Rodri comes back at the level he was prior...of course he could but he will be another few months without injury to get back up to speed

It's still killing me that it took Pep that long to get Rodri and Foden on. I understand he can be very stubborn but I've never been frustrated like today. What a shit performance it's still hurting.

Please get Rodrygo and Donnarumma in. I think the players we have now are good, just not good enough for big games when we need to show some character.

Also I've watched some of it back and Dias is so bad. He literally doesn't bring anything to the game, his awareness is dogshit. Stones so much better than him and hardly played in comparison.
It's fucking destroying me that Kusanov sits on the bench and has to watch Dias literally do nothing.

There was a poster earlier on in this thread urging us to 'not panic' (apologies to the person concerned).

Well, imo, this is exactly the time to panic.

This squad is not good enough or deep enough to make the top 4, never mind compete for the title or Champs League. It is physically weak and slow as fuck. It is mentally weak and complacent.

Maybe Pep will stabilise the situation enough to get us into the top 4, but is that good enough for a club this size and pedigree? I think not. I didn't see anything in the tactics today that looked any different from last season - we played a shit team last week who made us look good, but got exposed completely by a pretty average Spurs team - and that is on Pep! God help us against Arse and Liverpool.

Viana to me seems to be buying for the Portugese League with small technical players as opposed to the brutes like Yaya, Kevin etc. that we used to buy and definitely need.

Also, why are we not acting like a big team. Go get the big players with the big mentalities. But instead, we get fancy dans and fairies who look great in inferior leagues rather than the top players like Wirtz, Barcola etc who would scare the beejesus out of the opposition. The opposition just don't fear us anymore. Go and stick £80m down for Liveramento, or £100m for the PSG winger, etc. What's stopping us apart from not wanting to look crass. Bollocks to that I say.

And as a big club, you say thanks but no thanks to players who are past their best or just not good enough, instead of holding on to them. No other big club would do that cf: PSG with Donna Summers. Also, what other big club has not one proper right back in the squad?

Can you tell I'm pissed off? Some will say I'm spoiled - so what - I support a big club, I've been through the shit and now I want gravy with my chips every time - shoot me.

Rant over.

PS: I hope Pep and the team prove me wrong - I love humble pie.

LOL.. I was the one that said don't panic.

And relax! I'm not panicing till we get to the January transfer window and we're not in the top 5.

It's absolutely not the time to panic.

Great post and I agree entirely with every single word. We seem preoccupied with trying to look clever, like thinking we don't need a specialist right-back. Well I don't think this sort of improvisation works anymore and it's criminally negligent to think we can have a 55-60 game season without one. Hell, it'd be risky even having just one, but to not have any is verging on ridiculous. I just don’t know what's going on behind the scenes. We seem to have forgotten that we need to earn the right to play. Our Treble season might be the greatest, but for me, we haven't reached the levels of 2017-19 since that time. That team was not only brilliant and exciting but it could physically mix it with other teams as well.

All our academy players are currently getting crucified on here.
our academy players arent good enough if you are referring to Rico Lewis.....

If he wasnt an academy player would people defend his shit performances week in and out - we saw so much of what we saw today from him last season when we were getting beat consistently - supposedly this team is better than last season and he still stand out like a sore thumb as a huge weak spot in it.

Rodri and Foden aren't really fit enough to play much more than they did. Unfortunately it's a phased return, particularly for the former.

The last two seasons at least we have started with Rico at RB, he has a couple decent games where we have the ball and everyone says we are set for the future. He then comes out of the team and we look much better (last season everyone was really bad TBF). The available guys are not the answer there, we're in deep shit if we're going with what we have there.
For the most part we were very poor today, prob mostly down to a lack of sharpness whereas Spurs are much more advanced there. We always lose to spurs, usually we get back but last season is now a bit of a lasting memory unfortunately.

Got bullied today, all over the pitch. Stones held his own but everyone else dog shit. Get Delph in this week to teach em all about the baaaasics. Surely we can’t be in for more of the same shite we watched last season after we spent a country’s military budget on new players ??

I don't think its down to penny pinching, necessarily. We're just not identifying them the way we used to. Our last veritable transfer success was Haaland, obviously the jury is still out on our summer t

I think Tijani will prove to be a useful addition.

Air nouri will do a job, the rest will be much like whats proceeded them since haaland.

All have their good games or moments, but will lack the consistency and quality requires to win major titles.

Absolute bollocks.

People that want Pep in do so because they think it's the best thing for the club, no other reason.

They might be right, they might be wrong. But don't questions peoples loyalties and objectivity sit because they have a different opinion to yours.
The behaviour of a pep cultist

I didn't even get to watch the match today but I can imagine how awful we were against that cunting lot. It's why I wasn't arsed if United had beaten them in the final, can't stand the jammy cunts. They'll be tonked by whoever they're playing next week

If so what might you expect? We sign a whole raft of players who are then loaned out or sit on the bench?

I cant disagree with some of your opinions, however the Spurs performance today was top drawer and one of the best I've seen at the Etihad for some time, they were far from average.
We were bloody awful so that helped them out a bit as well.
