7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

Lots of comments about him not being a left winger, what is he then? Left wing has been the position he's looked by far the best for us. looked useless on the right and completely lost upfront in the times he has played there. Peps seemingly already given up on him playing upfront so if we are now saying he also isnt a left winger, where is he fitting in?

Thought Pep took the wrong winger off.

Marmoush was getting in behind and causing trouble while Bobb didn't get beyond his man once.

He should occupy the same position as Alvarez, a two-man attack close to Haaland. He was more effective in Germany when he played with Ekitike; he's not an ally. I prefer Ait Nouri and Oscar Bobb to spread out on the line and Marmoush to move around Erling. I only see him in a 4, 4, 2 or 3, 5, 2.

He is really exciting if there is lots of space and quick counters.

Always willing to have a go at goal and play direct.

However he is physically and technically weak. Not a typical City player. I do think we may struggle to fit him into the team. We did overpay, that’s for sure.

Such a weird player. Technically he is really poor, doesn't contribute to most of the build up but is good when the ball is played in front to run onto.

His touch is appalling and looks really awkward when he dribbles. The problem is he's not a winger and he'll only play up top when Haaland is unavailable. It wouldn't surprise me if he is player we'll be looking to move to move on next summer.
I think that will be difficult especially given he is supposedly on 300K a week, and we paid a sizable fee for him, we would have to eat a big loss if we move him.

Started great, then dropped off a clif when RAN went off. The importance of fullbacks eh!

Really disappointing that he can go
From sublime to the ridiculous in an instant. A poor lack of control(complete mis control) ruined a good attacking opp for us. He also made cherkis simple pass look bad by not being on his toes. Basics really.

My biggest worry with him though is he is made of paper….very very soft. Yet to do anything in an away game either

we signed lot of players that could excel in a more direct team with less possession but more space front of them at attacks. there is almost a mismatch between our playing style and the playing style that new signings are fitting the best.

we almost look at the market and check who is fantastic at counterattacking sides and get them and we then play the opposite way and look surprised the transfers aint looking good and we are far from getting the best out of number of players.
not sure why this keeps happening.

its like we would sign Crouch and C. Ronaldo as a duo up top who are both great at headers and we would try to play in a way to never actually cross the ball for heading.

Good last season. Diabolical today - yeah, lose the ball here and there but the job is to score and when you miss it highlights the reat of the poor play

Willing but lacks quality. Alvarez lacks his pace but Alvarez is a miles better footballer.

He isn't a winger, he is a striker or second striker or false9, therefore he should be played centrally.

Winger needs to help team during buildup and keep possession and stuff like that, Marmoush doesn't have those skills, he is forward. it's like playing Haaland LW.

if we want to play them together (Haaland and Marmoush), we need to stop playing 4-3-3 and move back to 3-5-2, which I think suits best our current players and talent we have..

For example

--------------Ederson-------------------
-----John-----Ruben----Gvardiol-----
Nunes--Rodri-----Reijnders----Savio/Ait-Nouri
----------------Foden/Cherki-----------
--------Haaland---------Marmoush-----

4-3-3 needs better wingers and fullbacks, which we don't have, but we have good wingbacks (Nunes, Savio, Ait-Nouri, Oreilly), good centre-backs, a lot of midfielders..

We don't have luxury to play light and exciting football. We need to be heavy and pragmatic and use our best players.

I don't want tactics that suit Doku, I want tactics that suit Marmoush, because Marmoush can score more goals than Doku and therefore that's smart choice.

I don't even give a fuck Doku plays for this team or not. But Marmoush scored some goals and showed potential, that should be nurtured.
