7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

Lots of comments about him not being a left winger, what is he then? Left wing has been the position he's looked by far the best for us. looked useless on the right and completely lost upfront in the times he has played there. Peps seemingly already given up on him playing upfront so if we are now saying he also isnt a left winger, where is he fitting in?
Playing as a second striker is his best position ,however both haaland have same weakness -poor first touch ,passing etc . Would be difficult to fit them together in the same lineup

He's not an elite player. He may well be a decent prospect, but he's got a long way to go, and he'll learn nothing if he's played out of position like today.

Pep will stifle his progress.
Agree that he’s not an elite player…..far from it, but why bring Pep into ?

He’s not got the technique or first touch…..nothing to do with Pep.

Pep picks the team. Pep sets the tactics. Pep stuck him out on the left wing. Out of position.

Just Pep, trying to put square pegs in round holes.

Play players to their strengths or leave them out.

Looks like a player who would have thrived in Klopp’s Liverpool team. I worry our system won’t get the best out of him.

He was an elite player in Germany though. He's not really settled in here yet and adapted to how we play but he's still a good player. His mental fortitude isn't quite there yet so time will tell whether he can become an elite player for us. He will if he wants it enough.

In a front 3 in the LW in the 433, he did have some license to drift centrally, but he was definitely playing wide alot of the game.

But when we played with split strikers in a 4222, while he would drift wide, he predominantly played centrally to get in his best shooting position as the LS.

But the 4222 is definitely suited to wide fullbacks to hold the width and for some reason we aren't seeing Pep do that with RAN or Nunes, he seems to be preferring wide wingers again.

Certainly could go either way this one. He has shown glimpses of real ability like the goal v Bournemouth. Got to score that chance today though. Really poor finish that. I’m not keen on him away from home though.

main problem we lost Alvarez and signed him with 6 months delay. Alvarez skill set was so much better for us imo than Marmoush skill set. had we scouted and tried to buy him when we sold Alvarez would have also saved as 20-25m on the fee, as he just did that brutal high G+A run with Frankfurt which elevated his transfer fee big time. (but then if he doesnt play like that we may never notice him)

No he wasn't. He scored 31 goals in 52 games for Eintracht Frankfurt and we jumped all over him (probably thinking he's.the next Mo Salah). He had a good goalscoring record in the Bundesliga 23/24 and 24/25 but was going nowhere fast before Frankfurt.

He fitted in well at Frankfurt but he's not an elite player yet. Time will tell, as it will for his old teammate Ekitike at Liverpool.

The Bundesliga isn't as good as the PL or La Liga. Don't assess a player's level of ability until they've really been tested at the top level

Fair enough that, mate.

I just don't understand this place anymore, and I'm having trouble understand our fanbase.

When we were linked with Marmoush, the number of posters on here DEMANDING we signed him to SAVE OUR SEASON went through the roof. He's come in and done alright in his first 6-8 months. He's notched up 11 G/A in 27 apps so far, including Goal of the Season, all while being moved from the LW to CAM to CF to LW again.

Good in some games, quieter in others, but mostly positive. There are bits and pieces to work on but it's coming together. It's coming together but there are bits and pieces to work on. That sort of thing.

But whenever Marmoush doesn't have his best game, his performance thread gets filled with people saying "Not an elite player" "Not good enough" "Sell him". We've gone from DEMANDING Marmoush to deciding he'll "never" be good enough in less than a year. Now we're DEMANDING that we replace him with Rodrygo from Real Madrid instead.

Only, what happens if Rodrygo only has, say, 10 G/A in his first 30 City games? Will we have posters saying we need to flog him as well? That he's "not an elite player" and that we need to sell him in order to sign some other shiny new player instead? This forum seems to be full of people who think the grass is always greener on the other side.

We've seen it happen in the space of a week with Trafford. The forum has collectively decided that Ederson is no good anymore, and Trafford had a good game last week against Wolves, so they're happily kicking Ederson out the door. One bad game for Trafford and it's "Not good enough" "Sell him" "Buy Donnarumma". Spoilt, spoilt brats.

Donnarumma had the same save percentage as Ederson last season, by the way. Between 66% and 67%. Does that mean we'll have to buy yet another new goalkeeper in 6-8 months when Donnarumma has made a couple of mistakes and "doesn't save anything"? God, what happened to just giving players time? What happened to this fanbase?

He had a brilliant game against Newcastle but outside of that my overall feeling is he’s probably not a Premier League-winning level player.
