31 | Ederson - 2025/26

Everyone is about to find out how important Ederson's ball-playing was.

Doesn't matter how good a shot stopper anyone is, we can't even play the same tactics without Ederson.

We'd have still lost 2-0 today if Ederson had played.

He may have avoided the mistake for the second goal, but he wouldn't have saved the first goal, or the shot late in the game that Trafford palmed out.

As for his distribution, I don’t think it would have made a jot of difference unless he was playing the ball to nine or ten different players than we had on the pitch today.

If we could successfully play it over the press into marmoush / bobb / cherki in space that would make a huge difference.

Ederson obviously made saves the vast majority of the time, its not like Trafford's shot stopping is miles ahead.

But it's a comment about our whole tactical system, not just today and not directed specifically at Trafford or Donnarumma.

If we want to play with an extra passing position - only Ederson could step into a back 4 and spray the ball around.

Totally agree. He has been a key player for us these last 8 seasons and arguably as important as any player including KdB and Rodri.

We can’t play like we do without him. No other keeper in world football can do what he does.

Vastly Underrated.

(except for penalties which he’s shit at)

Harsh. He’s scored 2 out of 2 in shoot outs.

I got my 8yr old Nephew the new GK shirt with Ederson M on it - looks bloody great

Sam Lee’s info has always been 100% genuine. Some “massive” blues just can’t get over the fact that he supported United growing up and may still do and doesn’t report everything through the myopia of being a City fan. It’s sad to be honest.
And if you defended him at the time (as I did) you got pelters for it and had more than a handful of people ganging up on you. As I've said a few times on this forum, it's the people who are willing to be the loudest and most emotional about various City matters who "win" these debates, even when they're not in the right.

Sam Lee's leaks and info might not always come to pass, but he clearly gets his info from reliable places and delivers it without much agenda. If anyone listens to Let Me Talk, it's pretty clear he's become an honorary City fan over the years, to the point where his young son is now a big City supporter and already obsessed with Haaland.

I remember going to a live recording of the Bluemoon Podcast in 2017, after Pep's first season, and the evening descended into chaos when two or three pissed up blokes decided to take issue with Sam reporting on the possibility that Aguero might be looking to move after Pep dropped him in favour of Jesus for a while.

The guy goes on tour with City whenever they do pre-season. He's been a City correspondent at major football publications for more than a decade now. He's clearly got good contacts inside the club and he's clearly trusted by people fairly high up. He might not be 100% accurate but, as you say, he is always 100% genuine.
