New Turnstiles v Tottenham Hotspur Tomorrow

Think quite a few fans gave up and left after queuing for an eternity at the high tech portacabin . Absolute shambles .
If they did give up then that is one black mark against them already in the eyes of the Club.

Disgraceful state of affairs.

Putting it simply they wont mate, makes you wonder how large a vanity project it was to build a stadium with so many seats and then make it like the krypton factor to get tickets and enter the stadium.
All the so called big clubs rely on tourists to
fill the their grounds, so what makes us different.
Come on Bluemoaners keep up the good work.

So called big clubs? Having the most tourists doesn't mean you're a bigger club even taking into account the "Big club" argument is cringeworthy anyway.

I had no problem getting in, my son trialling his clone phone also had no trouble.

What was concerning was all those empty seats in the family (north) stand, it makes you wonder how they will ever fill the extended stand when it opens.
They won’t

Well I have to say that City have finally done it.
They have taken away the enjoyment of going to a game.

I'm in my mid 50s. I'm a worrier. I get anxious about stupid things.
I wish I could control it but I can't.

So standing in a queue for 30 minutes not knowing whether I'm going to get in, makes me anxious.
And to think I've paid nearly £800 to let a club I've followed for well over 40 years, means I'm a fool.

'Sorry Mr Jones you didn't come to the first game. You have to attend 16 games.'

'I did come. You couldn't get me in!!!!'

You're not a fool mate, this is on them not you.

I make no apologies for repeating myself but I'm a business analyst who looks at (among other things) business processes. And in my line of work we use a technique called 'The 7 So Whats'. This involves looking at a proposed solution to business problem and asking "So what happens if we do this?' In other words, what are the foreseeable outcomes. The theory is that if you ask that question seven times, you should have a good idea of the ultimate consequences of your proposed solution.

In this case, the first and most obvious 'so what' is "So what if someone doesn't have NFC on their phone?". You don't have to be an experienced business analyst or member of Mensa to come up with that. The next is "So what if they do have NFC but it doesn't work?". Yet City had no solution in place to either.

We're still completely fucking amateurs operationally but no one at executive level gives a shit.
It clearly highlighted a lack of contingency. Technology can be a wonderful thing, but because of it, people were unable to get into the stadium with a valid ticket on their phone. Those with tickets that could be validated should have been let in. I have reported this issue to the supporters team to unpick the issue and allow them understand the problem and make a decision on whether I should be compensated for what was a poor performance from multiple operational teams at the club. Fans should not be told to join a queue. The sad thing is I'm expecting them to refer to T&C's or telling me it is my handset that was the problem. Hopefully, with information shared from fans they can identify a workaround that ensures other fans get into the ground in a safe and timely manner. Embracing technology is important to the club but what happens when it doesn't work?

Saw a tweet last night saying:
'Should never have stopped proper seasoncards. If we don’t get a free smartphone with our season tickets, you have no right to make it a requirement.'

Her point is unrealistic but they can't blame fans for not having the right technology or not having their NFC (???????) activated!!!!!!!!!

'

Stood in the fan support queue for 40 mins and missed the start of the match.

They had people walking down the queue trying the help but asking questions like "does your ticket not work", "have you tried to get in" or "can you not get in" wasn't helpful to a few.

As I was eventually getting into the stadium (P1) phones still weren't working and they were being directed to the still lengthy queue at the cabin. I imagine those people missed the 1st half based on my experience.

I will get a plastic card. Thousands of businesses use google pay and NFC but we can't get it to work reliably. You are utterly useless. And there is no one to blame but incompetent and useless management.
There was a guy using the bar code reader in entrance c with a cardand he was told he should have used E. I had the same response on my phone as did my lad

Don’t think it made any difference what technology it was. We had the season cards on both Apple and Android phones

Blatantly obvious the ground is too big for us

Been going since 1965 and very proud of what has always been our hardcore support which is “mainly” drawn from the Manchester area and is very evidently even to today a generation right of passage

Family stand exemplifies this notably yesterday in August families go on Holiday ffs

Weekday evenings most families don’t have little Johnny out till gone 11

Look elsewhere and “empty” seats mean for whatever reason someone could not go to the match so Fukin what all seater stadiums highlight this without stating the obvious

In the first years of going to Maine Rd 65 to the scoreboard being redeveloped the official capacity was circ 65k this was only ever achieved on Derby Day and that would have included about 15k rags
We’d clear 50/55k possibly against Liverpool each season and even that depended when the fixture fell

I hated Maine Rd in the end the whole configuration fucked and a capacity of circ 36k

The new ground in the heart of our great City still and a capacity of 48k was oerfect but clearly someone thinks more is better

I’ve concluded I have to accept this is a modern world and I’m now left behind but can still find some solace with old mates from Denton Gorton and Reddish at least my city has not completely lost our great watering holes

My bank account transactions clearly support this great match day experience

I got to n2 after 12 pm got in queue, for some reason I had to scan twice to get in, it seemed like there was 2 scanners next to each other and I scanned left one, then tried to get in, started swearing at turnstile until steward said scan the other 1 and that let me in, why is there 2 places to scan but only 1 let's you in,

I arrived at 11.30 and presented my phone to the scanner and a millisecond later the green “enter” came up on the screen. It was about only thing that did work there yesterday :)

I get the feeling that City's next concession to protesting fans will be to drop the attendance and transfer restrictions for next season. This may relate to the thousands of empty seats in NS2 (probably now NS1) for the last half dozen home games of the season.

me too, no issues at C - I think the NFC thing caught a lot of people (City included) out! Time to upgrade all those crappy old iPhones methinks! And you know people will have a moan about that too!

I have used google pay for ages. Last season I couldn't use NFS on my turnstile so I relied on scanning the barcode. After downloading the season ticket and finding that there was no bar code option, I went down to the ground and tested it on a turnstile that City had set up for the purpose, and it worked.

Yesterday, my phone would not scan at turnstile K. The stewards in the yellow and white vests tried and it didn't work. The majority of fans were getting in but a significant number were not. I was sent to join a huge queue at a pre-fabricated supporter services office and it moved incredibly slowly. I was in that queue for an hour. Before I got to the front, a steward went down the queue to say that if you have ticket for turnstile K, try it again because it should now be working, and it did using NFS.

My problem with this is that:

a) Each turnstile should have been tested repeatedly with multiple phones. That does not seem to have happened.
b) They should have had the barcode option in case of NFS failure.
c) They should have had more people available to produce paper tickets, or a better work-around.

These are simple and obvious steps but City did not take them.

There was a guy behind me in the queue for supporter services who had come from Italy to watch this game. The system worked fine for the vast majority of fans, but for hundreds it did not. I don't know the scale of the problem as I did not walk around the ground to see if there were other queues at supporter services offices.

I am going to complain about this because I think that is the right thing to do to make sure it doesn't happen again. If people don't complain, then problems do not get resolved. I know that the problem is with City's hardware and not my phone because I use my phone everywhere without problem to pay and it has worked at a test turnstile, and it did eventually work on the day.
