Re. the OP. This happens on forums. (Not only ours — take a look round. And I don't even want to talk about Twitter and suchlike, which I literally never look at). Especially during and immediately after a defeat. I'd say about 70% of the matchday thread is about venting, pure and simple. That's why I almost never look at it. And the first hour or so of the post-match thread, it's a good 50-60% of venting, if it's been a defeat. There's no distance whatsoever.
But you don't have to read it, you know. Another thing. It took me a while to realise it, but some people apparently post regularly when they've been on the sauce. And I mean, big time on the sauce. And we know from down the pub that some people get benign and philosophical when they've had a jar or ten, and others become like rabid dogs.
But hey — it's a free country.
I intensely dislike seeing the players and manager of the club I support insulted. But there's criticised — and then there's insulted. I know where I put the cursor, but everyone's different in that respect. Unless Ric's going to turn this place into an internet version of North Korea, you're going to get it.
