Hard To Be Here

Wasn't yesterday's starting 11 the youngest City have put out in the pl ?

Nothing wrong in that and as these players grow together but at the minute we lack a good experience players around them. Gundo struggles as does Bernie, Rodri and Phil have been injured. Stones, Dias arent leaders. We have needed a Kompany, Fernandinho etc for some time now

That's at best disingenuous and at worst a complete misrepresentation of why some people were so unhappy about yesterday. It's not about one game, it's about the last 18 months. It's about two squandered FA Cup Finals in which we were undone in the same fashion, it's about a 13 game run that read W1, D2, L10 and included three truly awful CL performances against Sporting, Feyenoord & Juventus and a shameful home defeat against possibly the worst United team we've ever faced, it's about the capitulations to PSG and Madrid and the thrashing at Arsenal, it's about conceding four goals (and it could have been eight) to a Saudi pro-league team in the CWC, and collectively it's about the complacency inherit in all of the above. No right back, slow centre halves pushed up on the halfway line and undone by the same long ball into the space behind them again and again and again and again, torturous backwards and sideways passing in the final third without ever attempting a cross or a shot, a lack of pace/legs in midfield, and to which we can now add persevering with that same modus operandii only with a goalkeeper clearing lacking the requisite confidence/ability required with his feet.

You're right, we don't have a divine right to win all the time and there's a section of our support who may have forgotten where we came from, but expressing one's irritation at witnessing the same flawed patterns over what is now a prolonged period of time, on a fan's forum, doesn't really constitute 'rag like' behaviour

What have we become

Barcelona Lite... With bells on. As predicted by many when Soriano and Bergiristain arrived.

Creating modern football for the modern world.

It's a matter of numbers.
in the early days of bluemoon when we had less than a hundred members there might have been one moaning get.
Now we have tens of thousands of members we also have thousands of heavy whingers.

Before the days of BM and t'interweb, we had the Pink or MEN for our entertainment. Moaning and whinging was an art form, delivered by mock grumpy old bastards who had years of experience winding up what we now call happy clappers at Maine Road.

BM is kiddy time compared to the Main Stand at Maine Road, and the MEN/Pink.

"Hard to be here"... lightweight.

I’m talking about one game and the reaction to that game. I don’t think our performances over the last 18 months or so warrant people slating players like Trafford or Cherki [I don’t disagree, albeit that their performances rang some obvious alarm bells given the way we play - specifically the former’s inability with his feet and the latter’s lack of graft - and I’m certainly not advocating anyone abusing them as a consequence]. Some of the comments on here have been ridiculous over the last 24 hours. Having a poor spell doesn’t justify that [It’s not a ‘poor spell’, it’s a design flaw. Either buy players with the attributes to make your preferred system work, or contemplate a different system. Don’t keep shoehorning the same people with the same shortcomings into the same positions and expect anything other than the same outcome].

I think it’s a bit of overreaction as well for fans to be saying pep out as well, would you not agree with that? [Yes, of course it’s an overreaction. He’s earned himself a thousand ‘free passes’ and what he has achieved at City will never be surpassed. Are you suggesting he be exempt from criticism though? I don’t think that would be healthy for anyone, particularly given our recent travails against high energy, counterattacking opponents]. I think it is rag like behaviour - it’s a sense of entitlement and meltdown if we don’t win a game [I disagree completely, because - again - we’re not talking about one game].

if you want to talk overall, we’ve had a season of not being great and still finished 3rd and got a cup final [If not a multitude, that 3rd place finish is masking one or two sins IMO]. Thats with what ten years pretty much of constant success. [History is bunk. Are we heading in the right direction?]

I went down to Manchester yesterday with my son and we had a great weekend at the football. Okay we lost disappointing, but that was never why I started going to football, going to the game out Saturday night , Sunday breakfast in Manchester, discussing how we are a work in progress there will be a few ups and downs until we settle, probably November ish.How we got the spurs and Brentford performance out in just the one game.
Got back looked at a few threads and questioned why some watch City they seem to get very little from it, me can’t wait for out next football weekend away. My son feels the same.

That might be an excuse but I don't think Nico is good enough and Cherki's defending is weak.

The midfield we played was weak. We didn't see it at Wolves because Wolves are not Wolves and Cherki did not start that game. Bernardo started instead of Cherki and Bernardo is mobile and tenacious.

All Cherki's assets are offensive. I think there are games in which he might start but you need to be strong defensively to do so.

We are learning about our players and realising that they have weaknesses as well as strengths. I was worried about Trafford and wanted City to bring in Donnarumma, and that opinion is now justified.
Sorry mate, I can’t agree that one game justifies anything

You maybe correct, but judging Trafford on one game is quite frankly ridiculous

These days i am trying to get back into city and this forum, not doing that well on either. I tried the match thread as it was moving quite slow to start with, then the wums and those being abusive about the players flooded in, it is the same posters that i used to take on but i dont have the energy or the interest anymore

When it is the same posters time after time and they stand out to me but not enough it seems to the people with the power

I can no longer read from where i left off the day before so i just read the last couple of pages so i am not seeing them as often as before but they are there still

If they are genuine blues then i would really say take a break, it will do you good, the red shirts should get a life and support their own team, the dates they joined i notice, a lot these last few weeks but some who have been here since covid, they ruin the place as i did by reacting to them

I dont see an an answer to it really

OK but now we are in an era when we have ambitions to win a league title, and to do so you might hope tp gp through a season at home undefeated. Of course we get over it but still there is huge disappointment. We didn't lose unluckily, we were outplayed.

Not my point, I had a enjoyable weekend at the football, yes I expect to win more than the old days, yes I expect better football. My point my going to games isn‘t wholly dependent on the result, it makes it better obviously, but sometimes the other team is better prepared.Plus it isn’t a cheap weekend for me, tickets travel hotel meals, wouldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy it.
Also I didn’t expect everything to be perfect immediately it will take time anyone with any sense would get that, my sons 23 only really known us winning trophies since he was 10, but he get that a new team is being built with a young average age yesterday and it will take time to build it back, that there will be good and bad performances before we are what some seem to think should be immediate. No patience no perspective, snap judgements after 1 pre season and 2 games from a few thats all.Everyone goes on about PSG last season a PSG that struggled until February.
