Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I’d put put it down to stubbornness if he could see so far ahead surely after watching Spurs V PSG he’d know how spurs were going to play

The point about him seeing things ahead of others was more in reference to what has got him to this point in his successful career and not necessarily on a game to game basis. Where he is at now is down to those insights and rigidity. There are plenty of interviews with players who have found him difficult, other managers like Capello have brought things up about his strange decisions and lets be honest every single city supporter has scratched their heads at times and thought what the fuck. Despite that we all love him. I know every manager makes decisions not everybody agrees with but Peps the best around and continues to baffle very regularly despite all he has done. He is very predictable and at the same time very unpredictable.

That's a naive statement imo as decent managers change their approach/playing style often to suit different teams and availability of players

So Spurs will always play exactly as they did against PSG , and City's style is identical to PSG too ?

Incredibly simplistic thinking !

No because of how well Spurs pressed PSG something that we cant deal with and it’s exactly what happened yesterday so it’s not that naive but I agree it is simplistic thinking

Ah right. Yes he has changed football all over the world and has always been ahead of the curve. And I thought we scrapped over the line for our last title win and I thought he’ll come up with a plan for next season. Then we got all the injuries I thought he’d have a new plan he didn’t and we struggled. I thought new coaches knew players at the CWC it be different it wasn’t. And looks like we a riding into this season with the same tactics over and over again which even mediocre teams fancy their chances against us.

always welcome to go follow united if your unhappy how we play

We won’t win with him anymore. I don’t care what anyone says. The rebuild should have happened with a new coach. This screams simeone. I also doubt he would’ve extended if it wasn’t for his wife taking half of his money then coming back later on. Obviously greatest Coach we’ve ever had but no one can beat time and there‘s a time when you have change completely.

I don’t mind happy clappers coming at me.

2 assists for Grealish - Starting to believe that Pep is really the problem now, similar to what we saw with Klopp towards the end at the Dippers

Today, in my late 70s, I’ll admit to being bemused and confused by the modern tactics and terminology…Inverted wingers, overlapping full back, double pivot, high-line defence etc.

I’ve been a Follower Of City since the mid 50’s; when the game was much less technical. I never really understood the “Revie Plan” and just about followed “Big Mal’ with his pass and move philosophy.

Some analysts have suggested that Pep has merely put a new twist and added a little on to age-old tactics such as playing out from the back, pass-pass-pass and sweeper-keeper. Whatever, it brought great success to our club.

Currently, I’m of the opinion that Pep is still saying “This is how we play, beat us if you can “, and some teams have learnt how to. You often hear post-match interviews where other managers have expressly set up and altered their system to out manoeuvre Pep.

I thought our “new team” performed well against Wolves, though Pep wasn‘t entirely satisfied, and we had hope of a “New era”, so it’s a puzzle as to why we were so comprehensively outplayed and ineffectual on Saturday.

Nico was one of the only players that played well yesterday. He did what was expected of him and unfortunately was asked to do more than he’s capable of by Trafford
Fair enough, but to be accompanied by 2 new lads in the middle?

Prime Walker was the most important player of Pep's time here. We won nothing before and our decline correlates well with Kyle's legs going.
With him in the team, break aways were snuffed out before they'd even touched the ball in our half. Kyle was always there first, took possession and kept us up the pitch. Now we are constantly exposed with our fullbacks both inverted and nowhere to be seen and the Cbs running back as if they're in a dream.

Not directly replacing that get out of jail card that he constantly was is borderline moronic. Also, not giving a chance to the lad you have warming the bench that could offer that counter resistance is almost as bad.

Would love to hear his thought process behind this. Because imo, we don't get better again under Pep, until this problem is addressed.
That’s why I’d give Khusanov a chance.
