Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

He has brought the Premier league standards to another level.

Teams now have vastly improved and their tactics have changed. I fear Peps tactics and formations are now well and truly outdated.

The premier league is all about pace, power and athleticism now.

Look at Spurs first goal yesterday. 7 passes from a goalkick and it's in the back of our net.

We now take at least 30 passes to get to the opponents box and watch Doku run it out of play!!!

Pep dropped Akanji and Gundo from the squad just like everyone wanted.

Pep dropped Doku for Marmoush just like everyone asked.

Pep started Nico, Rejinders and Cherki in a midfield 3 and made everyone excited.
Sorry but I doubt starting Nico got anyone excited.

The tactics aren't out dated, some of our players are outdated.
We let KDB, who regardless of his age could still be relevant from the bench.
We didn't sign Wirtz, but Cherki will need a little time.
So we were earmarking £100 million for Wirtz, was that to be on top of Reijnders and A&E?
We have let two right backs go, one who is simply a better player than Rico and a better right back than Nunes.

There used to be a time when managers/head coaches stayed until they got a better job, retired, or were sacked. Would he retire at 56?

I find this a little bit concerning, he wants to play a certain way but doesn't have the players for it, but admits he will still keep doing it. He plays a system not players, but I think he might need to play to the players strengths more.

We’ve always had a high line since he’s been here but we had Walker for almost a decade, we don’t have that get out jail card. He’s choosing the slowest players we have in our backline pairing with a super young keeper. It’s a recipe for disaster

Just maybe Pep may try Khusanov at RB to provide pace and strength and a better defensive brain compared to Nunes and Lewis. This would probably mean abandoning the inverted full back so may take a few more defeats before Pep embraces the idea

I really don’t get why people want this so much. I want to see him start games but it can’t work work well.
1. He doesn’t have low centre of gravity like a Kounde or Ake
2. He can’t move his hips meaning he’ll struggle against any tricky winger
3. It’s a completely different position
4. He doesn’t have an attacking body, our fullbacks either invert to link up midfield or overlap and allow the wingers to be inside forwards.

This will just make who’s ever playing RW suffer as they won’t get any support.

The club should’ve just bought a specialist and kept Nunes as a back up

If we play a high pressing game then we will play a high line, that's a given and there isn't really a choice but Peps football is 'kin hard to learn and be confident with, but once learnt and comfortable with it then we've seen the rewards that brings before. The average age against a good well coached spurs team was 24 some will get it quicker than others some might not , but over the season it will get better and next season or maybe 2nd half of this we'll see the fruits.

If that’s the case we have problems coming
