Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

Well obviously, but we’re going to have to change the way we play and adapt. That’s what all top teams do. Even Barcelona did it last season.

If we bring in a gk like donnarumma - basically anyone other than Ederson, we’ll have to change our style. Even pep has alluded to it.

Or do you think we should just try and keep playing out from the keeper?
Maybe Enrique Loves Donnarumma and it’s all part of a major plan

Time to tell Eddy he can have Donna’s deal for 2 yrs then leave on a free with the clubs blessing. Trafford will be 25, have played in every domestic cup game and gained EXPERIENCE AND DECISION-MAKING at the top level, and can be our keeper for another 8-10 yrs.

Trafford’s performances have created a narrative that Keepers struggle to overcome, and invite pressure.
Time to tell Eddy good bye. Amazing what staying out of sight can do for one's profile. He's had his head in the clouds for a bit now...

According to some, Hough End hackers have better skills with the ball at their feet.
You don’t get to the heights Donna has by being useless
Who has said he's useless? Or does it just suit your narrative, It might have passed you by but these days player analysis is built around stats

One constant is playing out from the back.

And that's not going to change. We're just going to sign a keeper who is shit at it.
Playing out from the back, safely.
What Trafford did on Saturday wasn't safe.

I don't think Donnarumma plays that pass. he might get caught on others, lord knows Ederson has more than his fair share of cock ups or in fact anyone you can possibly name.

Cup final and 3rd now a shit season?
It's fair to say never being involved in the title race and losing the cup final to a bottom half side in limp fashion was disappointing and below expectations. Not to mention being awful in the CL and getting comprehensively dumped out by a Real Madrid team nowhere near the level of those we'd faced in prior seasons.

If we finished 3rd as part of a tightly contested title race that went to the wire, and narrowly lost a cup final to one of the Premier League elite, that could be looked upon differently.

Shit may be an exaggeration, but I'd say 2024/25 falls in the "disappointing" category.
