It's Quiet the £250m return

We really need to respond to the market.

If it's me, in fantasy football mode this week...

Sell -
Akanji
Ederson
Savinho
Gundo
Ake
Phillips
Kovacic
Gonzales

Bring

Baleba
Donnarumma
Rodrygo
Livramento
Gheui

It's gonna take something like radical surgery to have us clearly out in front again.
It would be a great transfer window if we could get rid of those. A mixture was
The was Good the bad and the ugly

I’m pretty pissed off that we have spent the thick end of £100m on Reis, Echeverri, Bah and Nypan and then sent them out on loan. Then, another £100m+ on Marmoush, Khusanov and Nico and hardly play them. What the fuck is going on?

Because Pep can't help himself.

He will play his favorites despite the results.

I'm fine with all of those except Donnarumma who is a bigger downgrade than Trafford!

Pep insists on Ederson style tactics with keepers not named Ederson and we've tried with Bravo, Caballero, Muric, Steffen, Ortega and now Trafford.

We're gonna lose like 9 games before Pep figures out Donnarumma isn't Ederson and can't build up like Ederson!

This is why top level management is periodically changed in big corporations. Sometimes we become stale in our ideas & can't see the wood for the trees.

This is where management consultants come in to view the company with a fresh pair of eyes & ears, from a different perspective.

After City & a well deserved break from football, perhaps Pep will see things very differently. Perhaps the next manager coming to City will view things very different to how Pep currently does.

I hate the thought of losing Pep & never wanted to even contemplate it, but to be honest, something's changed with Pep since last summer & I find this constant "Will he. Won't he" extend his contract drama every other season, draining.

Teams are setting up against us exactly the same & are using the same tactics, but yet we persist with a tactical approach which has clearly been sussed out & is failing. Our management can't have failed to notice.

So if this season goes mu h the same as last season, & we've added several players h changed the coaching team, how long before you'd expect the board act, & what action would you expect them to take?

I got your question. As I said, not ready to think about it, don't see the need. Not while I have faith in this team and manager. Which I do.

What ARE you on about? He played many of the new boys on Saturday - how did that work out?

Did you see Ruben, Stones and Rico at the back with a high line instead of Khusanov and Nunes who have the pace to recover??

Or did I just imagine things??

Does anybody see maher carrizo as an option if Savinho goes to spurs been linked with him a few times bit left field i know

Pep signed a two year contract extension, which he then publicly spoke about and explained it was his decision as he wanted to rebuild this team. He looks refreshed and rejuvenated. Years younger than last season. I'm not sure we could ask for much more tbh. The whole "Pep has peaked and is on the slide" conversation feels wildly premature. And funnily enough it's the same people who say the players weren't good enough last season who also think it's all pep's fault and he's lost his hunger.

What concerns me about sending players out on loan is that I'm yet to see any of them come back and establish themselves in our first team. We may start to look to reverse that trend with those four, but it'll be a mighty turnaround from what we know.
Most of the time, our academy plus the club going out and these teenagers is just about money. We buy them and then in 18 months sell them on for profit. Its the business model that us and other various clubs are using.
Every now and again we may get a gem that maks it into the first team but fans need to realise that the vast majority of the timeits just a way of making money.

How many of these young signings have ever made it to first team level and established themselves in the last decade. The standard is so high that 99% wont ever see first team action. I cant believe that there are fans out there that still dont get this. The same clamour everytime we buy some supposedy exciting young south american lad who is the "next big thing." Its actually just a money making machine for the clubs, as well as the media (especially social media), agents and players. Obviously the clubs and agents take the biggest piece of the pie by far

Last thing we need to do is sign more players. We are trying to gel a team together. Might not see the best of us till Jan onwards

I think the process will be faster than that. Post international break when the players have a couple more games in their legs they'll figure things out. There was a lot of "nearly" on Saturday, which is a good thing.

The fuck are you on about? We had 6 players signed this year in the starting 11 on Saturday.

This Pep's favourite thing has to be the most tedious line on the forum.

Calling it tedious is generous. It's stupidity dressed up as critical thinking.

I find the inference really disrespectful, and also dismissive of loyalty as a valuable character trait, and the achievements of the players in the squad.
No Gundogan, no Akanji, no Bernardo.
In fact, a host of new signings played - Marmoush, Cherki, Gonzalez, Reijnders, Ait-Nouri.
Really, you are annoyed because we lost and attribute the loss to pace. Or, you just value pace above other qualities.

We will win some games and we will lose some, and Pep probably has the highest win rate in the history of the PL.
