Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

Can’t lie. I’d be gutted and a bit bewildered if we didn’t get this done.

World class goalkeeper - one of the top 3/5 in the world - who wants to join us, young, great mentality and bags of winning experience available for a low price at a time where our older number 1 wants out either now or in 12 months and we want to skimp on the fee.

All a bit baffling to me.

I get the thing of not wanting to be ripped off because they’ve alienated him and he’s got a year left but at the same time Galatasary will likely be saying the same thing to us (year left, wants to leave) and we’ll be harping on about his quality to up the price.

Surely, at some point you swallow your pride and accept that it’s a fantastic market opportunity and realise the price they’re willing to deal for is still a massive bargain to get the deal(s) done.

Fantastic goalkeepers are a rare breed as it is, never mind finding a proven one going on the cheap and throwing himself at you. Now is the time to be ruthless, not passive.

The saving grace is that the article suggests Donnarumma is willing to wait 6 months to find a club/project of interest. Despite announcing he’s leaving in a statement and waving goodbye to the fans at the weekend. Would be a big change of mind. That or he’s trying to push the deal from his side.

Brilliant…… we have a keeper who wants out and a wild class one who wants to join but Hugo wants to push it

It is the first and so far only claim in the media of this type I have seen. All other reports have been suggesting the fee is not a problem, that it all depends on Ederson's move. It is also not like us to lowball that much. Wouldn't read much into it.

Ederson's distribution is not faultless. Trafford's distribution vs Spurs was awful.
It wasn’t awful and it isn’t awful but he’s 22 his decision making will take time and he’ll make mistakes as I’m sure a 22 year old Ederson did. Ideally Ederson stays a year to give Trafford a year to develop.

I don't see how anyone can even make out what he's trying to say.

I suspected this would go to deadline day and the latest reports seem to confirm it.

It’s a situation where 3 clubs are all trying to get the best deal and it has become a game of chicken.

Once we get to deadline day and times running out, someone will pull the trigger and it will get done.

I can’t see a situation in which donnarumour sits around waiting for us for 12 months.

I don't think Ederson staying is ideal anymore. I think he's lost his edge and mentally now has his sights elsewhere. I'm someone who absolutely loves him to bits and will miss him greatly, but the time is right for him to move on.

Trafford can learn from being next to an exceptional goalkeeper like Donnarumma. If he's not willing to do that then he can leave. We're an elite football club, not a nursery.

Donnarumma to us just confuses me, tried to rationalise it and it makes no sense to me. Now at the stage where I’m just going to see what happens either way and leave it to the experts. That said the club don’t seem in any particular hurry to push any deal through either or they’d be negotiations with the Ederson sale to get it all done where they seem to be sticking to their valuation.

One mistake led directly to a goal and his distribution was very slow. His long distribution was inaccurate.

If I knew Eddy would be 1000% committed and HAPPY I'd be well OK with him staying. But based on what we've been hearing and seeing that's a big if...
Had City offered him a 2yr extension at £Xxx,xxx/week, I’m sure he’d have been more than happy. Given the reality….

I think this transfer will happen. Just a matter of time, and waiting it out for Galatasaray to pay up. Everyone seems comfortable with it, and the timeline.

If it doesn't, the club also seem comfortable with either Eddie or Ortega and Trafford. Positives either way really.
