Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Hardly comparable when one has played significantly more minutes than the other.

Bobb has a very marginally better Goals / assists to minutes than Savinho.

Plus, football isn’t just stats. You can see there’s more danger when Bobb gets the ball compared to when Savinho does. Plus you can tell he’s a better finisher.

But did the week before. Looked more accomplished and at home in that one game than Savinho did for the majority of last season.

All my opinion, of course.
Did u remember the first game of the last season against Chelsea? Savinho was the best player on the pitch. It was Chelsea by the way not spurs . Bobb lacks pace . In the PL I don’t know about one efficient winger that doesn’t somehow rely on his pace.

Football isn't just stats but everything done in football produces stats which can be used to inform the eye test.

As both guys have 1 league goal in over 15 games I think we can summarise neither are lethal.

I think one of the big ironies here is they are actually fairly similar players.

What he lacks in pace (FWIW I think he’s fairly quick…) he is clever and skilful in how he moves in tight spaces. Given our game relies on wingers being clever with their movement and when on the ball, he’s much better suited to it than Savinho.

Issue is, the latter will be mint for Spurs because of how they play. There will be space for him to operate (like Girona) but with us, he’s not subtle enough to play against low blocks.

Of course it could be that he evolves in his game and starts learning certain things and adding them to his game given he’s only young.

In my opinion, anyway.

I’d love to see Bobb get the chances Savinho missed last season, I bet he’d tuck them away. But of course it’s all speculative now to say that. But I stand by the fact he’s a much, much better finisher than Savinho.

Compared to 24/25 Savio, inarguably. Compared to 23/24 Savio, probably not.

They're both good players, I don't want it to come across like I don't rate Bobb, I just find it strange that 2 pretty impressive seasons (one truly excellent) before the age of 21 seem to have gone almost unnoticed for Savio.

I'm not sure if it's because some have decided he's blocking Bobb (when there's more than enough minutes for both) or are appalled that Spurs have made him an offer he finds appealing (just football isnt it).

You’re right. He’s not shit. At all. I just thing Bobb is (currently) better suited to us than Savinho is.

And I just can’t see past the fact he wants to leave for Spurs! Blue-tinted glasses admittedly.

Still not getting the Bobb hype. Also don’t get Savinho or Doku.

I think we would be incredibly naive to put a lot of hope into a player that has barely played 1000 minutes for us.

I like Bobb a lot and think he will develop finely, but some on here act like he is our Lamine Yamal and he isn't.

If we lose Savio and don't replace him, especially after losing Grealish as well, would be poor by the club.

The last guy who wanted to leave, 3 years in a row, we let give interviews insulting our other players (who were playing better), then made him captain lol. So who knows.

For me I think Savinho is a woeful shooting percentage away from looking pretty good. If he scored 5-6 goals last off his 25 shots on target (which would only be average) i think this thread is very different.

If he stays i think him and Bobb is a very healthy right wing to have.

Rodrygo isn't a jaw dropping upgrade but he's the best replacement we can get if he's desperate to go.

If Sav goes and isn't replaced that's just a huge mistake to me.

How many goals have you seen him score?

The same (edited) as Savinho in less minutes.

As I said, football isn’t just about stats - sometimes the eyes don’t lie (Chico) and I’ve just had a season of watching Savinho continuously fluff his lines by having no composure. Age? Maybe. But finishing isn’t something that’s easily taught.

Yeah he’s not supposed to have fun ? What’s wrong with you?

Would never sell him to spurs to fuck up their squad. They need him desperately. Why give him up when they refused to sell kane + levy is one of the leaders of the 115 charges.
Looks like he missed all those shots too :-)

His finishing was legitimately good in Spain though so it might just need the confidence to remember rather than true teaching.

I’d be interested in seeing stats against the low block if such a thing exists. I doubt Girona faced much of it and we get it every week.

The saving grace I have is that Pep oversaw Sterling’s finishing turnaround. He went from being so uncomfortable in front of goal to being lethal in the space of 2/3 seasons.

But for every Raz, there’s a Jesus! Haha.
