It's Quiet the £250m return

So even by your count almost half the outfield, I'd add Reijnders and a fit Stones possibly Ait Nouri at left back, but that's just opinion, would get in a team expected to be winning the league.
Anyone saying otherwise is just another opinion as valid as yours ,no kidding needed.
The issue for me is the huge drop off in quality from those 4. Arsenal don't have that. Players like Doku, Lewis etc just don't cut it for teams who are serious about winning titles. Agree about opinions, my post worded badly.

How many city players get in the Arsenal team? We are miles off the quality of previous years. I'd say Gvardiol, Rodri and Haaland plus Foden when he is back to his normal levels. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. The drop off in the quality of our players over last 18 months and beyond is huge.
Although this is subjective, how many Arsenal players would you definitely take over ours?
Saliba, Rice, Saka? Maybe Oodegard

I think one issue is that we have an age gap in our squad. We don't really have players in their prime, they are either beyond it or not yet achieved it.

I think it’s a case of how many Arsenal players get in the City team.

I’d have Saka but I’m not sure he’d start every game, the two central defenders, Rice and Timber but that’s probably it.

Doku, Marmoush, Foden, Cherki and Bobb all far better than Martinelli or Madueke.

Wouldn’t mind Zubimendi but he’s not playing over a fit Rodri is he.

Our problem is the defence now, and Arsenal bar left back have a particularly good one.

Bookmarked for when we win the league

I totally disagree mate. He's acting on Pep's orders. No other player is asked to, or expected to do what Rico does. The only player who comes close is Rico.

Now if Rico were to play as a standard RB, No 6, No 8 & No 10 & be underwhelming, then I'd get the constant (& unfair imo) criticism he faces.

Let's see how other players would fair playing Pep's complex Rico role. Then we can make a fair A>B like for like comparison.

Also, let's see Rico plays as an under/overlapping RB without having to invert. Then again we can make a fair A>B like for like comparison.

Because no one at City or at any other football team I can think of plays Rico's unique role, I fail to see how any fair comparisons can be made.

However, if we're criticising the effectiveness of Rico in the unique role he plays, how about we stop looking at the only player asked to perform this role & take a closer look at the person tasking him to carry it out?

Or is taking a closer look at the best football manager I've ever seen too taboo to do?

I'll end on that potential hit song I've accidentally created! :-)
Rico Lewis is not an 8 or 10 - lets get this straight. He doesnt get in our team in either of those positions at any point over the last decade and even prior to that - not over a single option at any point we have ever had.
He is not suited to his "multi-role"(lets call it that) as he doesnt have the physical attributes to play it - he aint athletic enough to get about and lacks other key attributes at certain times as well.

His attributes are that he is good in tight spaces, good first touch and (sometimes) able to turn out of trouble (not always however) and is an intelligent player. He is a battler as well, doesnt give up and doesnt shirk a challenge

However he is easily knocked off the ball, has no pace/stamina to get up and down the field at pace, lacks a forward pass (makes good forward runs). Players that could play this more hyrbid role were like Ferna, even Gundo...Bernardo when younger....you could ferna played Ferna at fullback and all other midfield roles and overtime he would have done a decent job, Gundo can do the 6.8.10 role (not fullback). Bernardo can play al the roles except fullback (though Pep tried it once!). So you are mostly right as there is only possibly one other player that could have ever played that role...and that was Ferna (yaya played as a centre half however while at Barca under Pep - so similar ish?)

I do agree its on Pep for trying this...its failing and failing badly and will do against any of teams that have something about them..against cannon fodder like Wolves we can get away with it....It needs to stop. I think he tried it briefly with Zabba when he first arrived and it exposed him badly as well.

The issue for Rico Lews is that ultimately as stand alone fullback he isnt good enough - as a stand alone midfielder - he aint good enough
Ultimately he is not good enough in any position.

Would he get into Arsenal's team, Liverpools team Chelsea's team? Any top team in Europe?

We were the best team from end of January in premier where Silva was playing midfield so that ain’t true..

I swear some fans only acknowledge negatives of players..
We were the best team in terms of points won, after the Dippers & ArseAnal had essentially secured their positions so concentrated on the CL. In terms of performances, we were a world away from the City we've grown to know & expect.

That was my concerning take from last season. That, & our inability to beat the main challengers around us, which you have to do if you hope to win the toughest football league in the world...

I think their set piece coach would definitely get into our squad

I know, the post said none of the players listed played in a team as bad as last years, they had, probably all of them.
Yeah, in Pep's first season. The original poster, who i was agreeing with, said we lack physicality now, compared to then. Or do you think we have more players now that are stronger and harder to get the ball off?

We have a few, Haaland, Foden, Rodri, Reijnders, Dias, Marmoush, should all be in or approaching their prime. Until this team has at least 10/15 games together though it's impossible to know one way way or the other how this season will pan out.

Any news today
It's not City-related news and apologies for posting here, but if this is true, I had a proper laugh. Two transfers in one window? That’s unheard of and I was sure you can move once in a transfer window, clearly I was wrong. But I’m sure “it means more” for him.

The point is he's in this complex role because he's not good enough for the other roles. Let's face facts, when he plays our win precentage drops as we can't attack properly and our defense is wide open. I don't get this protectionism of him, he is starting too many games when he should be a bit part subsitute coming on in the last 5 minutes or when we're 3-0 up. That should be his role

It is City-related. Our name has been thrown in. But it's never going to happen. It sums up the state of the transfer window - a little over 5 days left to go and they're having to resort to this for news.

Fucking hell imagine the scenes !

all being built up for a serious deadline day. cant see much movement before Brighton game and that being Sunday afternoon.

we need to get rid of about 4/5 players and maybe 1-2 more who wants to move. 1-2 maybe incoming. no RB still shocks me tho.
