Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

See how this plays out.

We famously don’t keep players that want out and they’ve bid/ready to bid the acceptable amount.

We also don’t just have one target this time being Rodrygo, how many times have we seen us move onto another player because the deal doesn’t work out.

Just doesn’t feel right this.

If he wanted out that much he'd have put in a transfer request. Clearly Savinho and the club both believe him staying can be accommodated perfectly well, seeing as they keep rejecting bids and still no transfer request.

The others being he was 31 and out of contract.

Wouldn’t have been near the XI regardless of age or contract status at that point.

We did really well in those wide positions up until last season. Now it feels like we’ve gone back to having wide players that don’t impact the game much. It’s not all about goals either, Bernardo caused teams so many problems when he played there for a good while.

He probably got advised by his agent that with what City were demanding, there was no guarantee Spurs were going to pay up.

By putting in a transfer request, he risked alienating himself and putting himself in a scenario where he has to walk back into that City dressing room with his tail between his legs with the disdain of some of his colleagues.

Well yeah exactly, he's not done anything beyond what Eddie and Bernardo did, not sure how people ended up so furious with him.

Stands to reason if we were desperate to be shot of him we'd have accepted one of the first two bids.

Glad we told levy to get to fuck. Sav needs to knuckle down now and put himself in contention for a regular start…
Not cut out to be a right winger. Needs to play on the left but Pep wants wingers to play on their opposite side so they can invert. That might be great if you have Robben and Ribary. We have Doku and Savinho who are far off it as inverted wingers. Waste of talent...

In other words, Rodrygo didn't want the move.
We don’t need to spend the money required to get him. If he’s not good enough for RM (who have taken TAA & Bel neither of which we’d want) - he’s not good enough for us

We can mold Savio to be a great player IMHO of course

City’s transfers have been utter shit for a couple of years now. No other big club would dare to dream of winning the league and UCL with that many project players in their squad.
Bob, Doku, Savinho, Cherki, a RB who can only invert , Lewis, Nico, etc. We’ve basically turned into Arsene’s Arsenal, just sitting around, waiting for our kids to grow into some imaginary world class players.

For the current wide players to be more effective, they need to receive the ball earlier. However, that means the defenders and midfielders have to be more progressive both in their passing and general movement. Age and fear of losing the ball held us back last year, but I’m confident that can be overcome.

So with Savio, Doku and Bobb we're relying on 3 wingers who've scored 8 goals in 108 pl appearances. Not ideal. In addition to the RB position probably our biggest weakness.

Or you could say we're having faith in developing statistically two of the best young wingers in the world and our own academy graduate who's excelled for us so far. None older than 23.

And I'm surprised we blame our wingers so much when tactically all we're set up to do is supply haaland, who offers very little in general play.

Think Doku, Bobb and Savio would all be more impactful in the false 9 era.

The sooner Pep fucks off all our problems will be sorted - you sussed it !

That was a problem last season, but with Foden hopefully returning to form, plus the additions of Reijnders, Marmoush and Cherki, we should have plenty of goal scorers.

I also reckon all three of them (obviously Bobb will) will improve on last season too. Don't think scoring goals is going to be our problem this season.

Navas played 7 games for us at right back. As for Savinho, seemingly is the operative word.

More generally, modern fans lose patience after 2 minutes, let alone 2 seasons, but the club has chosen to rebuild by bringing in predominantly young players and giving them time to develop, so they’d better brace themselves for the inconsistency that entails.
Sane and Sterling were just as young during their best seasons.
I don't think it's wrong to expect more, especially from Doku.

Yes. This will magically turn Savinho and Doku into Salah and Mbappe.

Made me laugh when Pep "said we can't attack with only 3 or 4 passes" the other day.

Let's try that maybe!
