Cherki and Trafford are gambles (more so than some transfers). It's questionable whether a club of our stature should be routinely buying players of the likes of Khusanov, Reis, Bah, Echeverri, Cherki, Trafford who represent significant acts of faith or hope. There is nothing wrong with research, but the balance of transfer spending by well resourced clubs should imo be towards proven talent particularly when a team is in transition. I will change my opinion on this window if we bring in Donnarumma but that looks unlikely now.
In part, I think we have been surprised by what Arsenal and Liverpool have done.
Frimpong, Ekitike, Kerkez, Wirtz. After WINNING a title is an insane window. If they get Guehi and Isak, (very likely now with the new Newcastle signing today) that’s a 10/10 window, isak alone makes any window a 7, he is a top 5 striker in the world imo.
What I believe We needed at the start of the window:
GK (Ederson replacement) RB (Walker replacement), CB, LB, CM (Gundogan replacement) CAM (KDB replacement) and a Goalscoring forward/winger who can help Haaland with the load.
GK: in - Trafford 5/10 (should never start for a serious title challenging team)
RB: No one - 0/10
CB: No one - 0/10
LB: in - Ait Nouri 8.5/10 very good signing.
CM: In - Reijnders 9.5/10 great great signing. Potential world beater.
CAM: in - Cherki 7.5/10 talented lad but can go wrong. Was available for £30m and no big club even bid for him cos of his work rate. Was our second choice as we were priced out for Wirtz.
Goalscoring winger: No one - 0/10
5/10 or 6/10 is fair if it stays the same as it is now, if we get Donarumma it’s a 7 or 8, if we get a RB it’s a 8 or 9, and if we get Rodrygo as well it’s a fucking perfect 10/10 window.
To those of you who are saying this is a 9/10 window ALREADY with no more business I’m sorry I think you’re deluded.
