The Transfer Window Countdown

Bringing in Donnarumma is important because Traffford's performance vs Spurs was so poor. It might have been nerves but his distribution was so poor, I fear that if Trafford is our No. 1, every team is going to press us as Spurs did. Retaining Ederson is an easy solution but he wants to leave, so would his heart be in it? If not, his form might slip further.

I wouldn't let Kovacic go when Rodri's recovery is going to take a considerable time.
You should not write Trafford off after one dodgy game. He did make a very good double save in the second half. He will learn quickly how to cope with being pressed and we may benefit from teams that try it. His pass to Reindeers for Erling's second goal on the opening day shows that he can play the ball long effectively - a few more of those and teams will be wary about pressing him in the same way that they are against Ederson.

If the window concludes as is it's been a really strange one.

The pre Club world cup window was a great start but really not sure what has been going on since.

So many players linked to moves without anything happening. Very generous offers for both Savinho and especially Rico Lewis not accepted. Personally feel we were crazy not to accept these offers.

Bringing in goalkeepers Trafford and Betinnelli, who are nowhere near the standard of Ederson and Ortega. Ederson and Ortega still here and Donnarumma seemingly set on joining us but we are sitting still.

Most astonishing part is our failure to sign a right back. We were so weak here last season and teams exposed this over and over again. Going into the season with Nunes and Lewis being shoe horned in at right back again is going to be a real problem for us.

The previous City side was the most dominant side in the history of English football. City entered this window in transition, and the objective should have been to renew our side. In my opinion we will exit it relatively weaker unless something dramatic happens in its final days. The goalkeeping situation is farcical.

Trafford had a poor game and beyond City fans, the tactical analyses of the game focused on the change in City's keeper and the consequences it had for the team.

This becomes more serious when Ederson and Ortega both have less than 1 year left on their contracts, and when City seem unable to bring in Donnarumma. I am not a football player and I couldn't say how long it will take for Trafford to improve his short game but he looked very much like the keeper who was at Burnley in the Premier League dithering between the posts.

City's season now rests on the return of senior players like Rodri, Stones, and Kovacic, and the emergence of young players like O'Reilly and Bobb. Very sad and really inexcusable given Khaldoon's comments.

We couldn't do much in Swales era. In this era, we have huge financial resources but we do not use them.

We do and we have.

Jeez. We’re only two games in

Tbf, who should we have gone and splashed a load of money on? Wirtz didn't want to play for us, nobody else who moved this Summer has really blown me away. Probably Eze only signing I'm jealous of. Always a spicy transfer market when the World Cup is on in the Summer might do us good having a war chest next year when Stones, Ake, Gundo, Bernardo etc probably moving on freeing up massive chunks of the wage bill.

Right back is annoying but our homegrown quota situation basically made it chuck 100 million at Livramento or nowt. GK is a worry but I do still think we'll have Donnarumma by Monday.

Viana’s got his work cut out

Sell
Ederson,
Ortega,
Gundo and
Kovacic

Buy
Donnarumma and
A top class right back name unknown

I’d rather this was sorted weeks ago
None of the above has been concluded and we’re down to just over 48 hours left until the window is gently pulled to.

Guehi, Livramento, Donnarumma, and should have paid Wirtz and his hangers on enough to make him prefer us, having gone to the trouble of flying him over.

Didn’t need Reis or Gonzalez in Jan, should have taken Spurs’s and Forest’s money for Savinho and Lewis and tried to sell Gundo (too old) and Eddie (wants to leave).

Don't think you can make a call on keeping Rico and Savinho yet, they are young and talented, personally I think Rodrygo would have been an expensive mistake anyway. We defo needed Gonzalez in January aswell, he played mint against Chelsea and Newcastle at home and those 6 points were absolutely crucial to us getting 3rd. Livramento didn't want to leave and Newcastle don't want to sell so we would have had to throw crazy money at him.

I agree in hindsight Guehi would have been the move last January over Reis probably but he has looked good when hes played and other teams were sniffing around him. If he ends up starting every week for us in a few years it's the right call.

I'm a bit disappointed myself in our inability to move certain older players onto new clubs who are on big wages and not doing it anymore but it's not easy to force a guy out who feels settled and is earning a wedge and was always going to drag onto the end of the window.

Cherki, Reijnders & Ait-Nouri are all really exciting signings imo, first 2 might need a bit of an adjustment period but they are gonna be top players for us.

Donnarumma is gonna get done aswell I have confidence in that one personally, even if its pissed me off he's not gonna be in net tomorrow.

Now the previous 2 summers were fucking wank in every aspect bar Gvardiol but Jan and this Summer have been a step in right direction hopefully.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it just petered out into nothing happening, bar an Ortega loan move or something (IMO we’ve downgraded with Trafford as second choice, let alone potential first choice)

Very odd window considering we started with such impetus before the CWC. We have a glaring issue at right back yet nothing has been down about it for 2 years.

Controversially I think Hugo has had a good window. No panic buys but real quality in Reinjders, Cherki and RAN.

Nypan a real get too.

Glad we didn't overreact to a poor season and sell the future in Rico and Savio.

No one else has bought an RB I'd want, happy to wait for Tino.
