Will we win the league this season?

The stats show we're better off without him. At the beginning of last season we had a significantly higher win percentage when he wasn't in the team (85.7%) versus when he was (71.7%). God knows what it will be now after the unbeaten run at the end of last season when he was injured. You can't see the woods for the trees you.
Headline stats mean nothing. Dive deeper in to them ….. were the games away or at home, stronger teams or weaker teams, were we missing other key attacking players etc etc.

The simple fact is that big Erl and Rodri would walk into any other team in the PL but nobody else in our squad would. Concentrate on the sub standard lightweights that make up the vast majority of our squad before focusing on 30 goal a season Erling’s shortcomings

Yes they would, Stone, Gvardiol, Reijnders, would, Cherki, Ait Nouri, Foden, Marmoush would get into most,

Stones yes when fit but he’s a liability fitness wise
Gvardiol looks good on the ball but doesn’t convince me as a reliable top class defender
Reindeer - jury’s still out
Cherki is lightweight, unproven and cost fuck all for a reason
Foden agreed - poor of me to forget him
Alt nouri no chance
Marmoush hit and miss, not top class - trade him and big bucks for Isak

I also think a Bernardo on anywhere near top form walks into any team

Not this season for me, we need the fire in the belly and I’m not sure pep can relight it. It all feels a bit stale and stagnant. We had it for a good while, but since the fa cup final against United, we lost the fire, we haven’t found it again, we need a catalyst, a spark from somewhere. We used to have that us against the world mentality, I don’t see it anymore.
I think the supreme effort to attain four in a row done everybody on the playing and coaching staff in. Players coming towards the end just wilted overnight and others with a bit left such as Foden and Dias appeared exhausted. We failed to anticipate and plan for this occurance and this was multiplied by failing to find a proper understudy for Rodrigo. The resulting splurges in the transfer market appear to me speculative at best. It seems like the end of an era. However, if Pep thinks he's the man to rekindle the flame he deserves and has fully earned the right to attempt to do so.

I still firmly believe that if all players are fit and we go with a starting 11 of

————————Donnaruma
Livramento Stones Gvardiol Ait Nouri
—————————-Rodri
———————-Silva Reijnders
———Foden ————————-Marmoush
-————————Haaland

We beat anyone in the division home or away.

Just need to put some money on the table for newcastle

Newcastle don’t want our money,or anyone elses we aren’t getting Livramento this summer.

You were just picking out random games to support your argument but when someone presents an actual stat, based on data from multiple games, then that doesnt count in the debate.
You again then state things as fact when they are opinion like everything else on here. You have an opinion and its bigoted and neither i nor you have the tools to deconstruct that.

One of your earlier posts referenced Erl struggling against better defenders so I listed a bunch of teams with better defenders who he hasn’t struggled against and you then countered with an arbitrary stat with no nuance to it based on a limited sample size to support your argument.

Just for balance I should add that the best side we’ve ever had imo was the total football false nine pre Erling team which played some mesmerising stuff so I’m not wedded to the concept of a 30 goal a season striker just for the sake of it

I'd have us 3rd.

1) Arsenal
2) Liverpool
3) City
4) Newcastle
5) Chelsea

It could change but the big games really have become an issue as well as the tricky away games.

We'll know more after the next 3:
Brighton (A)
United (H)
Arsenal (A)

If we come out with 7 points from that we're doing alright, I think we'll probably get 4 or 5 though. I just can't see us going to Arsenal and getting anything.
Our huge drop off in results in “big games” is the biggest indicator we can’t compete for the title any more.

I don’t see us beating Liverpool or Arsenal. I don’t even see us competing with them in the away fixtures. They’ll both beat us by several goals.

The knock on effect is that games we used to routinely win now come as more of a challenge. This weekend is a prime example. I don’t think anyone would be surprised if we dropped points at Brighton.
