Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

I said in the first half that I was bored off my tits watching us, We somehow got worse in the second half.

These performances and results aren't sustainable, It's time for change.

I love Pep, all he's done for us will never be forgotten he's a living legend to this club.

He needs to walk away.
We've had games like that first half early in the season before and went on to just change gears in the season. But you just don't see it anymore, the guys from last season are carrying some kind of trauma and i don't think it can be fixed without throwing the majority of them. Tactics are the same, but the players are just a shadow of what they were.

It’s not difficult to work out what has gone wrong.

In our pomp we had world class players all over the pitch. Peak Ederson, Walker, peak Stones and Dias, David Silva, Kev, Gundog, Mahrez, Sergio etc etc.

They’ve all been replaced with far inferior players. That’s where the drop off originated from.

Pep’s style worked when he had those players executing it.

The replacements aren’t good enough and Pep doesn’t have enough about him to work with players a level or two below.
Exactly mate.

Isn't he defending the centre of the pitch while Stones, out wide, volleys the ball straight back to Brighton?

Second week in a row Dias is taking all heat for a Stones error (and I love Johnny Stones)
The challenge from Dias was pathetically weak…

We are bad not only on the pitch but also off it, and that is the main reason for the decline in performance. We no longer bring in the best players. When was the last time we competed with one of our rivals to bring in our most important transfer targets? We lost Rice to Arsenal and we lost Wirtz to Liverpool, and Pep is still clinging to Bernardo Silva, Rico Luis and Nunez!!!!

Somthing big is wrong in City management.

Total control for 60 minutes, should have been 3-0 up at haltime.

Total lack of control for 30 minutes, could have been far worse but for James Trafford.
I don't know about being 3-0 up because Haalands first shot was through a crowd of Brighton Defenders. It would have been superb goal had he squeezed it in to the corner. His second chance was going in except for the great save by their keeper. But if you feed him a one on one he usually does score as he did with his third chance . So we did our bit going forward. Could've done more, mind .

But we should be able to defend a 1-0 lead and stop being naive as if the opposition is not going to come forward so we have to track back in numbers and defend it. Pep expects that. Look at Bournemouth yesterday with the 1-0 at Spurs. Need not lose posessesion easily and least fight to get it back. Need to defend with guts , bodies on the line? Where's the will, the fight in that last 25 mins?

Id love a Mark Guehi in there today. Cant believe he's going to Liverpool for 35M. He's one of the reasons why Palace are so very hard to beat.

remember when we had overlapping fullbacks firing crosses into the box from the byline, now anyone that gets in that position plays the ball backwards and we end up back in our own half ffs, it's boring slow shite!
The main problem with that tactic is that our rights backs and wingers are all rubbish.

As some have said with Eddie in goal we lose more heavily, so well played JT.

Both fullbacks were seriously exposed today. Not surprising as one of them isn't a FB. However Ait Nouri was being done for pace again and again.

Stones did a lot of backing off. So for me Khusanov was the best defender and it's always comforting to know that someone with serious pace can make that kryptonite ball over the top slightly less lethal.

Bernardo is done I am afraid. He is now charging around in frustration as I think he knows he's done. Tidy return from Rodri. Reinjders is not fully up to speed.

Bobb and Marmoush had their moments but were inconsistant. Bobb has trickery but is very lightweight. Haaland could have, probably should have scored more than one.

Brighton manager wins the battle over Pep as his 4 subs made the difference.

If we take our chances we could be in the top 6 and it will help to get Gvardiol and Foden fit.

But for me the root of the problem is mental. Pep now has players that he has never had before. ie players not so comfortable on the ball but more direct. It started with Haaland, Mamoush, Savinho, Reinders and I would say Gonzales too. But we appear to be playing 50% ticky taca and 50% Kloppball. So I can imagine Pep is unhappy.

The players don't seem as determined. Either that or the other teams players are just fitter and stronger.

Watch us. Watch Liverpool.

I hate it, but I get Wirtz’s decision.

I don’t think that’s the case. Nobody has said yet either who replaces him.

The thing is, WHY have CITY become this ?
It's a mess and right or wrong, the club has let this happen for far too long, Build in success and not let it become stale and stink the place out

Lets get it right here ? Last summer, the club and Pep stood still and trusted the players and did not invest in new players, Then, what happened an injury crisis that cripple the team which is down to Pep and the club

I don't think you come back from that and the best thing is Pep should walk away and let somebody else be the manager, Look its not my Job to pick the new manager and the truth is the club would never listen to me or anybody about who I think should be the manager

I can live without winning the league another season, all I fear is becoming another Milan/United. You remain at the top for long and see extraordinary wealth and success.
And then you make one mistake - Maybe the wrong manager or the player or the sporting director. But the system is there and the players are there and you still win.
then you do a mistake again in the tranasfer and then suddenly 7 players need replacing.
And then you sign the wrong manager and suddenly you are hiring Amorim and scraping for Europa with 2 billion spend.

We have the evidences in the league itself.
Let wenger stay for long and you have arteta and a billion Euro spend and you are still looking for a title.
Live on your laurels like rags and here they are.
Liverpool took 30 years and an extraordinary Kloop to get it right.

Hope we dont make the same mistakes.

Don't get me wrong, I know all good things come to an end, but a few years on its not clear what team we want to be!

Pep will only ever play his way, but the players we have signed aren't good enough to do it, and we knew this before the summer, so you need to change, sign more physical players..but we haven't we have just kept signings pale imitations of the greats that came before.

Its lack of a plan that is more frustrating.

7 years I'll never forget though.
Forgot the other 3 though?
