Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

It's not JUST THIS SEASON.

Yes we got over the line for top 4 last seaosn. But our performances were shite in generally.

Its not about losing, winning or drawing games anymore. It's more about performances. And they have been abject in the main!! And total continuation of the last 12 months.

We are boring. Laboured. Passive and weak. With zero creativity.
100%, it actually started in the 4 in a row season. We got lucky in that season and just made it over the line to win the thing. So it's more like 18 to 20 months

Brighton played like they would go down until today.

I watched Grealish first start at Everton last weekend. They beat Brighton 2-0. Brighton looked quite weak. Everton had a blast.

Never thought City could not finish them with a big win.

what is going wrong?

I presume Pep will start him from now on then. If fit.

We’ve been conceding goals to fast, powerful players for a couple of years. We have barely reacted to it. The only player we’ve signed with pace and power is Khusanov and he’s barely got a kick for months.

Our approach is looking alarmingly counter intuitive.

Fuck your question. You couldn’t name a manager you want to replace arguably the greatest manager to manage in this country with.
Haha what a gobby ****. Starts by calling everyone wankers. Then demands his questions are answered without answering any questions himself and calls everyone a rag. What a grade a bell you are

It's the lack of Belief in Pep

There was not a single day I would ever think i would say this about Pep in fact, I was in Pep we trust, but from last season's injury crisis in which he said himself was all his fault because he trusted the players, then said it's ok to lose and have a bad season i sort of felt let down

Maybe it's what's wrong with the players in believing again ? They saw a manager who rules with an iron fist and demanded 100% turn off and let go ?

I don't get the feeling we are going in the right direction and maybe the club are playing a game with the fans in ok you sack Pep because we can not speak to him

All Bernardo does these days is lose the ball and commit stupid fouls.
And Pep really is constantly trying to gaslight himself, the fans or the board after terrible performances. We were ok for one hour but saying we "created a lot and were playing really, really good"??

Not everyone, the small minority of spoilt, entitled rags who are demanding we sack Pep.

As stated earlier we have had a 15 year run at the top table and won the lot. It was absolutely ace.

But it's done. Over. Finito.

Far too many in power at the club - the manager very much being one of them - have got far too comfy and standards have been allowed to slide. We've added 1 class player - Gvardiol - in the last 5 transfer windows. 1!

Can't wait to see the set of criteria for acquiring a ticket next season - they'll be begging people to come back and fill that North Stand having spent the past few years treating the match going fanbase like shite. Remember all that support from the club we got for the conditions and shitshow for fans in Istanbul? No me neither.

We don't know who the no1 Goalkeeper is - this greatly affects how we actually play but we've blundered into the season with 4 of them yet are still apparently buying another one, who also can't play with the ball at his feet.

At full-back we've got 2 blokes from Wolves - one never will be good enough, the other already looks out of his depth.

Centre halves - we've 23 of them but who is the best pairing? Pep doesn't seem to have a clue on that. Stones was on his way out last month - now he's an automatic starter. Dias has dropped off a cliff again now he's dating. Khusanov disappeared for 2 months and has now reappeared.

Midfield wise Rodri stands alone by a mile. The rest are either too old, too flaky or not anywhere the standards we had. Gonzalez seems to always be the scapegoat yet Bernardo is still picked despite his legs looking like they've gone. Reijnders disappears when the going gets tough. He's clearly located that hole Alfie Haaland used to hide in for 90 mins.

Our wingers are tripe. Not a single one could hold a candle to Sane, Sterling or Mahrez. Doku's had 2 seasons - that's 1 too many already. And we turned down £63m for the other duffer who contributed 1 goal and can't cross a road. Palmer was sold - Oscar Bobb was retained......that frankly doesn't look like the correct call and that's being kind.

Up top Haaland must shake his head at those providing service. Marmoush has shown flashes
of brilliance. He's also shown flashes of complete unawareness of what's around him on the pitch & fluffed his big moment at Wembley, for which I doubt I'll ever forgive him for.

Meanwhile Pep looks on and continually exclaims how happy he is with his squad. If you wanted a guide to self-managed decline, since summer 2023 we've written the book on it.
Here fucking Here. 100% bang on

Sometimes you need to be pragmatic in your signings. When we decided to sign the likes of both Doku and Sav we should have gone for one of them and brought in Bowen given our full-back situation

100% pal. Difficult for many to accept though.

Completely agree.

When he scores everything else is forgotten. He has an incredible record and it has helped us to a lot of trophies. But you’re bang on. He adds absolutely nothing else to the team. He isn’t a leader, I don’t think his hold up play is good at all. He doesn’t press well enough and doesn’t challenge for long balls unless it’s massively in his favour. We could undoubtedly play to his strengths more but Pep doesn’t want to do that for whatever reason.

Worrying quote that tbh. No recognition of the system issue and just on the attributes of players.
