I doubt it was the online stuff. He seemingly wanted out last Summer before all that started. It's not as if he won't get online abuse in Turkey (or at any other club) either if he makes mistakes.
 
Regardless of what went on behind the scenes, it’s such a shame that our so called fans hounded him out of the club, or may have contributed to his decision to leave City?

No they didn't in the slightest, what a weird post. He wanted out last summer. Then he proceeded to play like he had no hands last season and got some online abuse which every single player sadly does.
 
It's a shame he has left but all players have to leave at some time. If he really didn't want to be at City anymore then it's best for all parties that he moves on.

He's been our best ever keeper IMO and will be a hard act to follow. Whoever comes in will be worse at playing it out from the back with their feet, but hopefully will be better in another area to compensate.

If we do get Donnarumma then hopefully he will settle in quickly. It's a gamble bringing a replacement in for a key part of the team, but one that we were forced into making if Eddie wanted out.
 
Sad to see him leave, but we don't keep players against their wishes. He was an integral part of our greatest ever side, and arguably the best ball playing goalkeeper of all time. I wish him all the best at Fenerbahce.

I feel like his wife catching it was probably the last straw though. Players can let it roll off their back, but if someone is going after your family and telling them to leave the club, I can see why if you're already unsettled, that can be the nail in the coffin.

Reports suggested that the abuse wasn't a primary issue, just pretty much the deciding factor after a while.
 
Sad to see him leave. A great player who was vital to our success in recent years.

He wanted to go last year prior to any reported abuse. It is the sad age of the internet and fans from all over the world who have never been to the etihad should not remotely want you to leave. He will have a rude awakening in Turkey
 
No time for any of the abusers. They should be prosecuted by rights but I doubt it will happen.
 
Going to miss Eddie more than a lot. What a player for us. I think he could have done another year or two for us at the top level but probably wanted to leave and we saw the best moment to get Donnarumma.

I doubt it will be anywhere near as bad. If he plays badly then yeah they'll jump on him, but Fener don't have millions of bandwagon fans around the world that scream shit at players because City let down their accumulator for the week.

He wasn't getting booed off the field. But his wife's instagram was getting spammed with #EdersonOut and being told to fuck off. Those types of fans don't know the Turkish league exists.
 
It’s a shame after all these years and all the things he’s won that his exit has dragged on for over a year and he’s ended up kind of going out through the back door.

I wish him all the best in his next chapter.

If we do end up getting Donnarumma I hope the club know what they’re doing. The verdict is very much out on Viana.

That’s true, in Turkey they don’t fuck about with Instagram spam they just burn your house down!
 
A top, top servant for City. Saved his finest performance for when we needed it the most, in the champions league final. Wound the Arsenal fans up. Put balls on a plate for Aguero and Haaland.
A unique keeper who was perfect for the way we have played the last decade, wish him all the best at Fenerbache.
 
I think Ederson thought he was gone after the Spurs away game that virtually clinched the Premiership……behaved very strangely on the bench after being replaced.

Although not acceptable, the online abuse will not be the reason.

He has been a great servant for the last 8 years and will be missed.
