Would like to think sojeeze there must me some dedicated right back somewhere in the world even if they have a few miles on the clock
He is talking about Akanji playing RBNunes-Stones-Akanji-Gvardiol defence started vs Arsenal away last season and we lost 5-1.
100% this. Far too much silliness said about Akanji in recent weeks imo. I don’t think Dias has been any better than him whatsoever in the last 12-18 months and agree with you, Akanji is the best right back option at the club. You’d certainly rather have him against Vini Jr away in Madrid in a few weeks than Lewis or fucking Nunes.
Swap for dumfries pleaseInter showing some interest in him now
A loan might be a bit pointless, that's just a free transfer then.
Akanji’s still got two years left, so it would be the same situation as Grealish.
Get a chunk of their wages off the books for the season, and free up the squad place for a player we’re actually going to play.
Not ideal - but we are where we are, and we need him to leave to have any chance of bringing in the RB we desperately need.
TBH, I think he is better than both our current right back options. We are getting slaughtered on that side. Every team is attacking it.He's pretty slow, offers nothing going forward and isn't averse to making a few defensive howlers as well. Probably wouldn't be any worse than our 2 current options but I doubt he'd be much of an improvement either.
Alas, we don't have a great hand to play here. We need to cut the squad size, which also cuts the wage bill. I hate loaning out seniors like Grealish, Phillips and now Akanji, but we're left with precious few alternatives.Loan with no obligation to buy. Poorly done by City.
