It won’t happen, obviously, but I wouldn’t be averse to a formation change at this stage, just to try and freshen things up a bit. It’s Football Manager pie in the sky, but I’d like to see a 3412 formation:

Donnarumma

Khusanov
Stones
Gvardiol

Nunes
Rodri
Rjeinders
Ait-Nouri

Foden

Marmoush
Haaland

It’d allow Foden and Marmoush to play in their best positions, and push Nunes and Ait-Nouri further up so they were less of a liability defensively. An additional centre-half might leave us less vulnerable to the counter too.
I said exactly this yesterday with my pals, I just don’t think Pep will do it but surely it lends itself nicely to what strengths we have.

Reijnders doesnt have the discipline at present - he is either number 10 or nothing....he leaves our midfield exposed defensively...saw it vs spurs and Brighton.....

It might be the best option given the injury situation. Perhaps Gonzalez for Reijnders though for a bit more stability. I agree that it is unlikely though, especially as we won't have much time to work on it due to the international fixtures (though I'm note sure when all players will be back).

If we stick with the usual set-up, I would hope for something like (depending on injuries):

Donnarumma
Nunes Khusanov Gvardiol RAN
Rodri Gonzalez
Reijnders
Foden Marmoush
Haaland

I think that would make our CM a bit more solid and offer the defence some protection. It might also be better able to pick up the 2nd ball better if we are going to play it long more often. Let the FBs provide the width and Foden and Marmoush play more as inside forwards. Reasonable pace at the back too.

Not sure on whether it might be too soon for Donnarumma but if so, Trafford has shown he can perform. Savinho/Bobb/Doku ready from the bench if it isn't working going forwards.

This would be great. Marmoush just behind Erling is the way forward.

They’ll defend deep , go long into the channels into the space Nunes/Rico leaves and hurt us. It’s really easy to get at us. Teams just have to follow that plan and for 12 months we haven’t been able to stop it.

Cunha and Mbeumo will just run in behind. Causing problems

Dreading this one. Pep has never 'got' the derby, and on current form I just cannot see a strong performance, let alone win.
At least he won't be putting Sterling up against Wan-Bissaka, which he insisted upon doing, a few times too many.
WB always had him completely in his pocket, couldn't understand that Pep never saw it?
