It's Quiet the £250m return

@BlueBrain @vincent

There you go, that's where you were/are wrong.

Since then, Liverpool spent 130m on isak and got 35m for Elliot, with a deadline day net spend of 95m. That doesn't cause a net spend jump of over 170m from what you had that day. And just checked the website again and it is still a good 70m out, for Liverpool. And that's based just on BBC's figures, which themselves will be conservative.

So as it stands, assuming Ederson, Donnarumma, Akanji and Gundogan all complete their moves, we have 26 players. We have 17 NHG players including Ortega.

NHG
Donnarumma
Ortega
Nunes
Dias
Khusanov
Gvardiol
Ait-Nouri
Rodri
Bernardo
Kovacic
Reijnders
Nico Gonzalez
Cherki
Savinho
Doku
Haaland
Marmoush

HG
Bobb
Trafford
Foden
O'Reilly
Lewis

AT
Stones
Ake
Phillips
Bettinelli

We have Kabore, Nypan, Echeverri, Reis, Bah, Akanji and Grealish out on loan.

We don’t know the status of Wilson-Esbrand and Mbete.

Make no mistake, this is a huge rebuild required and there is so much deadwood still with us on big contracts.

*Amended to include Bah and Bettinelli.

Sorry, where’s all this deadwood?

Ortega, Bernardo, Kovacic, Akanji, Grealish, Phillips, Stones and Ake. All over the age of 30 by the end of this month. Three of them will be out of contract next summer. I'd be amazed if any of them are with us this time next year. We may end up loaning out one or two of them again.

It is baffling that the club have effectively left 1 non home grown space free when we are in dire need of a rb.

We are likely to register four goalkeepers. The club are a right mess at the moment

So three players done and dusted before the cwc, then two keepers after and still not addressing the problem position of right back. Going to be a real long slog again this season where we will probably suffer some heavy defeats along the way

We're also still reliant on Rodri and the club is gambling he stays fit.... again.

I wouldn't call some of those deadwood but agree that most, if not all, are unlikely to be with us next season. That is the time to go big in the market IMO, as we'll have both squad and salary room.

Yes, unless Ortega gets a move to a country for which the transfer window has not yet closed. At this point, a loan seems just as likely.

Yeah Ortega goes 100%. Probably was kept around longer because how long it took to get the Eddie and Donna deals done.

Anyone that thinks we carry on with 4 keepers is a fool.

I was perhaps a bit harsh to use the term 'deadwood' for some of them, but we are limited in terms of what we can get out of them now due to being injury prone and slightly past their prime.

They won't be the only departures. It wouldn't surprise me if the likes of Nunes, Nico G or Lewis were moved on. We'd be freeing up a lot of squad space and wages if all of those players were moved on.

We might integrate Echeverri and/or Reis, but with 115 and APT hopefully behind us by next summer, I think we could well bring in five top-draw signings.
