Last Film You Saw

The obvious answer if all the angles have been covered is don't make another Superman film at this time, there didn't appear to be any mad public desire for it.

It seems this is a typical studio exec conversation

Anything new and interesting coming in

Anything at all

Come on guys

Okay fuck it which comic book story can we repeat again

Superman really ?

Oh with a dog this time? okay people like dogs

I understand that, but DC is, specifically, in the comic book market, so it competes with Marvel.

They HAVE to be visible.

So the go-to is what it is to rebuild the brand.

Outside of 'The Batman', who else would they focus on to any true level of interest to carry the DC title?

I'm an older male and I really liked the Superman movie. It was bright and colorful similar to the Suicide Squad movie he made which is definitely an adult film :) sure there were no f bombs or heads exploding but I'm happy to watch a good film if it's a good film. No f bombs or heads exploding in the OG Star Wars and plenty of old guys still into that.

I think "woke" people are misunderstanding the girl boss race swap criticism as being old men don't like women or ethnicities in movies. As an old white guy I'm happy to watch movies with female leads etc as long as it's a good movie :)
Don’t mind them been replaced or swapped if it benefits the story and it’s a decent film but they tend to try and shoehorn “the message” into everyone one, take the Acolyte absolute shite, The Marvels I could go on. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the only problem, like I said the pure amount of shite they’ve put out has damaged the IPs. I liked Superman but it was instantly forgettable, yet I’ve watched Reeves and the Snyder verse numerous times.

Trouble is Superman is pretty much invincible, that’s why I liked how Snyder went, if we had got to see his finished Trilogy with Darkseid it would’ve been up there with Infinty War.
Now we just get another reboot and seeing the latest artwork looks like it’s Braniac in The Man of Tomorrow as the villain with Superman and Luthor teaming up! I just wish we could’ve seen something like this

I've not seen the Snyder ones for a while but I do remember Supes died in one of them ;) I don't feel like I have the same attachment to the character as you and Bigga so am a little out of my depth :) I don't know how I really feel about the Snyderverse since the Justice League but I suspect the best thing that happened to his reputation was not finishing the trilogy :)

Yeah the IP's are damaged for sure. Superman and Thunderbolts were ok though in my opinion. I still mean to watch Andor but it's things like Boba Fett and Acolyte that put me off :)

For sure, it's interesting. I do remember this pre-game film and when I think of the 'Gunn-verse' we're far from this point. Even if Gunn decides to, actively, bring in 'Brainiac' (and that's going to depend on how the 'Supergirl' film is spun) the leap at 'Luthor' and 'Superman' teaming up in the next film is far too great... Unless, of course, 'Lex Luthor' has an ulterior motive for that team up.

I think it would take a couple of films to get to 'Darkseid' and that'll be via 'Brainiac' (and it's possible 'Supergirl' meets her love interest the clone 'Brainiac 5' in this timeline also).

I can see it getting messy, to be honest!

Please watch 'Andor'! It will change what you think good written TV can achieve.

Especially as a 'Star Wars' offering!

The naked gun. I would have naturally assumed it was dreadful and avoided it but had actually heard good things so put it on. I should have stuck with my assumption. There was about 3 genuine laughs in the mould of the original, rest of it was rubbish.

I genuinely cannot think of the last decent comedy film to come out.

Alien Romulus. Not as good as the first film but still a really enjoyable couple of hours. Some good tension and although the characters weren't all that interesting I think the film looked and felt fantastic.

Will never match the horror and dread of the original but they did a damn good job IMO.

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. 8/10.

Quite an odd little biopic film about victorian serial hobbyist and artist Louis Wain, who was responsible for anthropomorphised cats in and around 1900. But also a rather tragic tale of a hard struggle with mental issues, which i found to be done well, and rather touching. Recommended, on channel 4OD.

That's a decent summary, much how I found it. Cumberbatch is pretty remarkable in it.

Remembering Gene Wilder. A documentary about his life. It was pretty good.

Stir Crazy is one of my favourite films but I’ve not seen it for years. I need to watch Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

Sherlock Holmes - Guy Ritchie film starring Robert Downey jnr. Really enjoyed it. At least 8/10.
