What has the UK become under the far right influence?

This country is unwell.

A mass psychosis of unhinged “nationalists” brought into their delusion by their Facebook and Tik Tok usage.

We can’t stop it. Look after your neighbours or the stranger at the bus stop because if they are foreign they are at extra risk of attack imo.

oh I don't know some embers of socialist thinking still exists in people like myself

I belive in collective ownership, community and society co-operatives, ecconomic equality and partial abolishment of currency, social welfare, and would not be opposed to armed revolution to achieve those aims(though this will never happen in this country).

I also believe that intolerance of and agitation against it is a necessity option to defeat far right thuggery.

Unfortunately socialist are few and far between and where the likes of Britains first would have been chased out of town 40-50 years ago and got a kick up thee arse on the way, most modern lefties would rather wave a a placard at them. and don't get me started don the SWP cunts
That's good to read, not because I have socialist leanings, but because you're wedded to your principles. However, some of the principles you laid out in your second paragraph are the principles of socialism in it's purest form, and you must see that those principles are incompatible in the 21st Century and with globalisation more generally? Collectivism, as an example, is incompatible because it never really rewards hard work. Which is why I said it's lost all meaning. Some countries, Scandinavian countries for example, adopt some socialist policies, but they're socialist-lite policies, and are unrecognisable to socialism in it's purest form. There's a reason pure socialist states fail, in all iterations.

But I'm digressing, I agree with your overall point that some terms, like left and right, have lost all meaning. I mean, do you reckon angry placard people have ever read a book on the French Revolution? Do me a fucking favour.

This is how bad things are.

A boy, aged 14, had gone missing in Yorkshire. Police involved. Pleas for information on social media.
1,300 people posted a laughing emoji.

How can that possibly happen?

Oh, btw, his name was Mohammed.

They spend their time trying to convince us that we are brainwashed yet fail to accept their own groupthink that is backed up by nothing other than their own X/TikTok/Facebook.
We don't rely on social media...that's clearly Farage's followers. One side uses lies, the other side uses facts.

Does that mean you are grouping yourself with the flag waving nationalists?

WHAT reasonable concerns? I've asked you this many times, yet you fail to say what they are...you just go off into nonsense about multiculturalism and definitions.
Oh! I'm terribly sorry if I won't give you the answer you want in terms you can understand.

I'm bored now. Go away, you're making yourself look silly.

Last night i was watching one of those videos of someone walking around foreign Citys. It was sezchuan, and a couple other in China and my god the difference was stark. They had all the glitz of our City centres, the shopping experience, the bustle of City life kids running around, familiesdoing stuff.... But no crime, no druggies, no sirens and police. No whole- neighbourhoods lost to drugs. Just people shopping with their kids safely.

Is democracy failing? I mean we have all the freedoms but really what have we done with it? And is ours a democracy anyway! (when you can get arrested for saying the wrong thing, or when we are banned by our govn from saying things they dont like)

I might be nieve but seemed to me like China have a decent society compared to the western style of doing things. I know they are oppressive, and I was expecting something like n Korea, but if society works does it matter what sort of govn we have? I mean they've got to be better than Labour and Conservatives and Farage.

Righto, someone put me right.

Probably more to do with the government not looking after the people along with not doing so much of what it's meant to.

Righto, someone put me right.

There are some utterly horrific areas/living conditions in China, including major cities, if you stray even slightly from the main streets.

Nah I’m relaxing with the family, going to enjoy a nice roast for lunch and then get my mind ready for another 50 hour week starting tomorrow.

Much like the vast majority I’d wager.
Sadly not the vast majority and not just because of the increasing proportion of aged leftovers like me. 40% of the UK population over 16 do not work at all which includes over 20% of the 16-64 working age population - around 11 million. We have the highest economic inactivity rate in Europe.

I think this is indicative of the challenges around the political debate right now. Everything is being pushed to be so binary with it phrased as a them and us, when in reality outside of social media echo chambers (which is still where most people I know at least reside), opinions aren’t so easy to pigeon hole, they vary across topics. Nor are the validity of those opinions perceived to be the same.

That does seem to be changing quickly for a lot of people though and I do worry that by the time we get to the next election as the online world and debate continues to dominate, we are pretty much going to be America.
