F1 2025 Season

The fastest ever Grand Prix, apparently. And Verstappen pissed it. Say what you like about the bloke, and he comes across as an arrogant ****, who stretches the rules to the limit, if not beyond. But he's a phenomenal driver. The usual counter is, "yeah, but he's got the best car, hasn't he?" Not this season, he hasn't. Not so far anyway.
For this type of circuit that’s debatable.

Maybe I’m being naive and missing the bigger picture - why did the McLarens just race with no pit? At worst they’d have ended up back behind Verstappen rather than 19 seconds behind?? With 8 laps left, surely it wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility?
Because each driver HAS to make a pit stop.

But shouldn't the best car be good at pretty much all the cicuits? RB have certainly had that for the last, what, 4 or 5 years? Ditto Mercedes before that. They've clearly regressed this year. Verstappen is 94 pts behind Piastri; he's unlikely to pull that back in the remaining 8 races. Has the squabble between Horner and the bigwigs back in Austria played a part, maybe?

I think Monza is an outlier as there are few significant corners and therefore not much braking.
Tyre wear is therefore less, and you can set a car up for out and out speed, and not worry too much about cornering.

The McLaren seems to wear tyres less than the RB on circuits where it matters, and is just a better car this season.

In the first years of Verstappen's run, the Mercedes was far the dominant car on power circuits (which happened to be the last 4-5 of one season), but the RB was much better in slower circuits. It was a trade-off of design.

So now you swap places between your drivers because you fucked one of them on his pitstop, right.
It was the right call from a team perspective. A mechanic didn't get something right and we all make mistakes. If they don't swap paces then said mechanic is exposed and feels awful which impacts performance going forwards. It's not just about the drivers.

No, it’s because Lando was the leading McLaren driver and therefore had pit stop priority. He gave that up to Piastri so he could cover LeClerc behind him, but on the understanding there would be no undercut.

The pit stop fuckup effectively gave Piastri the undercut, so they swapped the cars.

It’s pretty simple. If you’ve been following F1 for more than 5 minutes.

Because that is against the rules.

In a normal dry race each car has to pit at least once, and use two different tyre compounds.

He’s the new Schumacher in that regard.

A cheating **** but an outstanding talent.

And they both leave me completely cold.

Well thanks mr know it all, you've certainly been watching more than 5 minutes.

Same. I could never warm to him. Or Hamilton, for that matter. I'd love to see Norris win it. If not him, someone like Russel. Or LeClerc.
Leclerc, lol.

He’s got to be the biggest wet lettuce in world sport. His own worst enemy staying with that team and signing that stupid contract.

He’s the Harry Kane of F1.

Baku is a crazy circuit.

Pole today might be won by whoever is the only driver not to twat it into the wall at this stage.

The blokes who wave the red flags are earning their wages.
