How good was Yaya?!

I thought Yaya Toure was the most extraordinary footballer I have seen in the Premier League.
Force of nature. True match winner. Could do everything. Very underrated levels above Scholes/gerrard/lampard who get waxed lyrical about.

Yaya in full flow was a thing of beauty! Not seen a player at City in 60 years who had the same ability to influence a game as he did. Semi-final, final, Palace, Newcastle he almost single handedly dragged us to titles. I firmly believe 93:20 wouldn’t have been required had he not been injured. But for some poor advice from his twat of an agent he’d arguably be a bigger club legend than Vinny, David and Sergio in my humble opinion.

And he can't stand those scouse bastards.

People also forget he came at 27 and his main years were under Mancini and Pelligrini when the club was still developing. Same with Dinho who joined at 28. Silva kdb and rodri had 3 or 4.years head start on them.

Seeing Silva or KDB play centre half in a champions league final.would be amusing though :-)

No offence meant my apologies, the conversation was heading in tte who was actually the best in top form, the most talented if you like. I cannot really think of a skill set that those great players had that YaYa didn't possess.

I also said post Bell as I never saw him play.

Bell KDB Silva and other players will go down as bigger legends for their skill effort and longevity. Same as my favourites Sergio Zabba and Dinho. We are lucky we have loads.

Are any.of them actual better at playing the game of football though? I think not.. He could defend, pass short, pass long , dictate tempo, bounce players off him like little children, was very quick and could run through teams, he scored great free kicks and hit some amazing thunderbastard goals.

I can't think.of many players who could do all.that and at that level.

In fact I can't think of any apart from him.
Yes, I have no doubt about how great Toure was and could be ,and if anyone has him above those I named fair enough,I just think on overall acheivments and long term influence on City those were greater players.all very different players though, and comparing them and rating them is fun but really pointless too.

Those goals v Newcastle! Was listening on the radio as we were travelling and at that point I was confident we’d win the league. Then the goal v Villa. Just Wow! One of the greatest goals I’ve seen scored by anyone. Watched it over and over since.
That goal against Villa was Yaya all over, a beast of a player

Can't believe blues put Yaya Toure as a bellend.
One of Greatest footballers of all time
And you have to find off field negatives.....
WTF?
Cant cope with this pull our player down stuff.
It's embarrassing. Why focus on the negative stuff.
He is not a bellend!! A Footballer ,one of the Greatest of all time
He played for us....and you find time ..to focus on media quotes off field stuff
The Man is a Legend.
A Blue Legend. ..speaks 6 Languages played football in 6 different Countries
Played out of position in a European cup final as a centre back marking Wayne Rooney out of the game..Goes to City and brings the title and Fa cup,
And you....think he's a bellend, not something you would say to his face?
Based on media reports you use the word bellend to describe the greatest Footballer I've ever seen
Leave it out.
Lighten up.... It's not that deep!!!

I've got lifelong friends who I love dearly that can be a bit of a bellend from time to time... and yes I tell them to their face

Some of the things Yaya did made him come across as a bit of a bellend... there's no getting away from that. Doesn't stop him being one of the greatest players to pull on the shirt or play in the PL... But it's probably stopped him from getting a statue and seemingly being held in the same esteem by the club as other legends

Hi Yayas agent.

Yes he is a bell end. Top class footballer, but also a top class bell end.

Fingers in ears?

He isn't as good as the other players mentioned on here either, hence the no statue.
It is his off the field behaviour that meant no statue. He had every chance if he conducted himself properly off the pitch. You can't fish for a move in the summer off the back of winning the league, having an amazing personal season and get a statue. You cannot embarrass yourself and the club over cakegate and get a statue. You cannot call the manager racist without justification and get a statue, you cannot have your agent claim they have put a curse on us not to win the CL and get a statue. There's more than that too. Whatever he done on the pitch, which was an awful lot, wouldn't matter if you conduct yourself like that off the pitch in terms of recognition and statues etc.

I just don't feel like a minion mate or the little fellas that are stuck in the locker in MIB chanting agent K's name.

not having him in your top 3 of all time doesnt equate to thinking he is not a great player. He was incredible for us and did wonderful things, i just dont think he makes top 3 ahead of KDB, Silva and Rodri. (Bell was before my time so leaving him out)

Yaya was great - but the baggage that came with him - birthday cake WTF?!? as a for example - soured me. I cannot look past the baggage.

Fuck me we are stuck with that old sock again are we?

Toure behaved appallingly and isn't getting a statue because of his behaviour and you have posters asking.

Why do you hate him?

Just to clarify, it's the club that didn't build him a statue and it's Khaldoon and Pep who had to defend Pep in the press because of him.
I'm not a fan of the statues as it becomes increasingly silly on who should and shouldn't have one.
