President Trump

Go out and enjoy it, I try to do. If the conversation turns to politics, turn it to football, family, anything else but.

It’s a fascinating place, mainly because of how they understand how power works.
Cheers mate.

Absolutely will now the initial trepidation has simmered. I'm going with my eldest daughter and youngest son (who's anxiety ridden and I'm hoping this trip will help bring him out of this shell).

When are you going mate? I’m taking my daughter in October half-term. Hoping to see the Villa game in The Mad Hatter, if that’s still the bar of choice for Blues?

I lived in Hoboken one summer 30+ years ago and over the last two years of work recently, when I’d go to NYC for more than three days, I’d do an Air BnB condo in Hoboken and take the ferry to Manhattan every day. Cheaper, quieter, less stressful, more room and a nice escape from the city. Plus the views from the riverside out to Manhattan in the early am are magic. I think it’s a very smart way to go!
Exactly what we're doing. Rending an Air BnB in Hobeken, not too far from the PATH train terminal. I'll take the Ferry too.
The views look incredible and the area feels like a more chilled NY.

I'll head over to Brooklyn too (Coney Island coz the Warriors was an iconic film for me as kid....never mind all the other films stamped in my brain over the years).

I've actually stated running again this week after a year of low key health issues so plan on doing the Brooklyn Bridge Park run (I'll use the ferry for this traverse).

Thanks mate!

Hatter has been gone for a while now. Amity Hall in Greenwich Village is the City spot now. And you’ll notice a LOT more City fans now than in the MH days!

The avid tennis fan got his photo op so is off - I hope the tennis authorities are satisfied that they inconvenienced the ticket buying public to facilitate the the shit stinky orange monkey

Probably one of

A) hungry
B) had to replace his poultice
C) his Trankles were about to explode
D) only realised at that point that neither player was Murican
E) afraid of the dark
F) couldn't understand the scoring system

We're going a week on Friday mate.
Heard the Mad hatter mentioned numerous times on here so may try and dig it out!
And ace - hope you both have an amazing trip.

I was under the impression that NYC had become truly corporate and had its wild soul ripped out, but watching this show suggests otherwise:

There was (is?) a similar place in San Francisco I visited a couple of times (25 years ago was the last visit) that @FogBlueInSanFran knows about (Mad Dog in the Fog).

One of the most welcoming pubs/bars I recall visiting (lot of ex pats/city fans that made that place their home).

Any last minute tips on a potential look at customs rifling through my socials?

Mainly stuff I like and talk about on here (unlikely to be that forensic) and liking posts on insta etc.

May delete from phone when I head over.

For the ESTA form (and I don't think this is a requirement yet?) I'll just add my very dry and vanilla LinkedIn page...

They didn’t to me in June but you never know with the Nazi regime over there now.

I don’t have any socials except WhatsApp, but my daughter has all the usual ones, though she’s only interested in boys not politics.

Thanks Somapop, I’ll have a look at that link.

That is brilliant news. A few pages back I asked why they, and the ICC didn't move. Let's see how he spins that.
Perhaps the Champions will reform to fight international injustice. (If your old enough you'll remember the opening credits :-)

Edit: sadly it seems it is just a temporary move to get round the US ban on the Palestinian delegate attending.

I remember Alexandra Bastedo quite well, not so much the other two and the fountain :-)

In other news, I’m off to New York in a couple of weeks.
I’d debated this so much but ultimately my eldest daughter pushed to go this year (she would have gone alone anyway) and I’ve always wanted to visit since I was a kid.

Not the best time to visit perhaps but I know a few at work who been recenty and throughly enjoyed it (with no issues).

Staying in New Jeesey (Hoboken) and very much looking forward to the trip.

I have a decent itinerary (mainly based on movies….and eateries) but welcome suggestions!

My son’s there right now, staying in New Jersey, loving it. He’s gone with a mate and apparently ended up last night with a bunch of American girls all swooning over their accents!

Hes done the main things but think he’s most enjoyed just walking around and taking it all in.

Ahh ace.
Exactly what we plan on doing. Ticking off a few of the site but then just wandering and taking in surprises round the next corner.

Can imagine he's having the time of his life and these memories will be cemented for a very long time.
