City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

Okay, that’s of course possible, but if this is true — ‘@ManCity are confident they will not be treated differently to any other top-flight club going forward’ — then they must surely have secured something more in the deal to ensure they don’t end up in the same situation again.

I think the premier league have had enough bloody noses to know not to pick any fights with City again. The club CEOs will also be aware it’s not worth your job to conspire against City.

So we will now abide by their APT Rules
But only after our big Etihad sponsorship deal is approved
And this may mean that we are going to get “something in return” on the 115 charges case if we’ve agreed to settle

Is this correct?

I don't think the 115 outcome can be connected in any direct way.

I agree with most of that but I don't agree it was a drop hands. City terminate their case yes. But a) I don't think they received a drop hands on Etihad - there was no case to drop b) the PL can't simply waive the Etihad deal through in exchange for City stopping on APT2 - that would be challenged by other clubs and a direct breach of the rules c) City definitely would not have waived costs to date on APT1 and probably APT2.

I suspect City have, in any event, now convinced the PL as to an acceptable FMV escalator at the centre of the dispute.

I agree nothing blocks Newcastle from picking up the reigns but they didn't even bother to be co-claimant with City so that is unlikely unless the new CEO wants to cause a stir.
A difference between City and Newcastle is that City claims Sheikh Mansour is not a ‘related party’ of Etihad, whereas Newcastle cannot make the same claim with their shirt sponsor, since PIF owns 80% of Sela. And to my knowledge, Newcastle have not had any Saudi-linked sponsorships blocked by the Premier League on the grounds of fair market value.

Ok for the less educated, and without trawling through pages, can someone sum up quite succinctly, what the fu*k is going on?

What’s the positives and outlook, I take it we are winning…?
I'm no expert but I think it's 2-1 to City...its the 95th minute & Haaland has just been fouled by Harry Maguire on the edge of the box...var are taking their time seeing if Haalands foot was on the white line of the area or not...if yes it's a penalty........to be continued this Sunday at 6.20pm.

Is the halt to apt2 potentially bad news for Newcastle and other clubs with rich owners? - the investment needed from sponsorship to elevate them to the level on and off the field to our level firmly blocked?

Someone explain what's happened to me like I'm five
You support the best club in England...3 times in the next ten years it will be the best club in Europe again ....the blue army is growing quicker than anything seen previously. You don't need to worry about Utd ever having a banner again like City fans did in the 80's, 90's and noughties. Don't ever buy a half and half scarf. It's a chip barm. Haaland is brilliant.

Edit; the United Nations security forces are considering renaming themselves as the City Nations security forces as they wear sky blue berets when on patrol.

If City have reached agreement with the PL over the Etihad deal going forward does that undermine the PL's case about disguised sponsorship in the 115 case?

This and the 115 chump charges will be our biggest victories this season.

Record breaking new deal now gets passed - as it should have years ago, then watch us go next summer and finish the rebuild

The next 10 years looking sweet

From what I gather (and this is only conjecture) is that this has nothing to do with the 115 charges. It's more to do with the APT (Associated Party Transaction) rules. In effect, the FA have agreed that we were perfectly fine in conducting business the way we did, 'however' they will change the rules from now on. We challenged the rules on the basis that we'd done nothing wrong in our past dealings (which the FA accepts) but we also wanted these conditions to continue into the future (which the FA disagrees with). It's a win for us 'restrospectively' but a back-handed win as the FA doesn't want to lose face entirely so will now 'amend' the rules for the forthcoming seasons.

On the subject of 'What's the connection of all this to the bu115hit charges ?'

In monetary terms, the legitamcy of the Etihad sponsorship is around 90% of the whole shit show. Etisalat about 5% and Mancini and Image rights 5%. Fcuk non-coop charges, the only sanction allowable is a fine.

The worst APT scenario would have been the PL saying forget that Etihad renewal and we are not even going to waste our time with any FMV assessment because we have illegitimised it in the prosecution of the bu115hit. But the opposite has happened, the hugely upgraded renewal has been approved in its entirety. This must by implication mean 90% of 115
has failed. Given to this day we are also sponsored by Etisalat (rebranded e&), at the last home game it was screaming out from the pitch perimeter displays, we can be sure that sponsorship has not been illegitimised. So what's left ? a HMRC approved image rights scheme and Mancini, 2 payments of £1m quid in 2008 and 2009, years before the creation of FFP.
