City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

Someone explain what's happened to me like I'm five

The club have agreed to accept that the rules they previously challenged for a third time, are fine.

The rest is all bravado, and guesswork on what may have been offered for us to effectively concede to drop another legal challenge of the rules we claimed were unlawful.

"Despite some reports suggesting that City have been given assurances that the deal will be approved, BBC Sport has been told that it would still be subjected to a fair market value assessment by the Premier League board."

Dan Roan desperate to show that City didn't 'win'.
Surprised he didn't utter 115 between every word he spoke.

the bbc sport do not have and have never had any sources and dan roan is on the same tier with goldbridge and the youtube twats when it comes to credibility.

The PL changed their rules as a result of City's action so that shareholder loans are now subject to Fair Market Value tests.
fmv as a concept will still never work because and this is the key to basic economics, no outside body can set the market value of anything, the market sets the value itself thats just how economics works, the value of something is what someone is prepared to pay for it and that will always hold true.

Every deal like what uefa do to assess a sponsor on fair value! It’s why psg did a 200m a year deal 10 years ago or so uefa knocked it down to 100m!

this fail value is bullshit Because if Madrid get a sponsor of 200m a year approved just because it’s Madrid shouldn’t mean if a Chelsea get one for that it should be knocked down to 100m!

But by the same token, presumably it will be the City team briefing Lawton and Keegan. It's a little disingenuous to take the PL briefing as fact while dismissing the City briefings. I would also suggest the Roan briefing was a defensive response to the narrative developing that Etihad was cleared.

Anyway, we all know how to brief with the best possible interpretation even if, given the PL's previous history of talking complete bullshit in their briefings, personally I lean more to City's side of the story.

So what we are looking for is a situation where both briefings are true without being complete. What about this? Yes, City have to re-submit Etihad, but the PL have agreed to push it through or, at the very least, have agreed small amendments with City that will allow the PL to push it through.

Clearly, imho, City got out of APT2 what it wanted otherwise what was the incentive to settle rather than to proceed? As you have mentioned yourself many times, it was a no-risk, free hit for City.
Nobody is suggesting City lied. Read the actual words - usually carefully chosen. So if one party says something definitively it is usually true. But City have spoken in vague “expectations” and “confident now that going forward”. Somethings are PR fluff and somethings are press briefings.

And I have agreed City got something to settle but as you will recall, I’d always been of the view APT2 was nothing more than City toying with RM and the PL and that it wasn’t part of some critical grand plan and nor were City really suggesting we needed to go back and redo 5 years of PSR adjusting for loan interest. I also never believed the deep interaction theory between 115 and APT. Personally, think that reading is even more likely now but we will never know.

Are you a Man U or Liverpool fan? Own up.

I think we should have a broad range of fans from other clubs on here.
City fan mate, 117 season ticket holder. It was a joke because every club believes their club is refereed differently There isn't a single fan who doesn't think that way. I don't believe we are. Yeah there could be decisions that go against you but we aren't at a disadvantage. It felt that way in the earlier years of Pep, wouldn't say so now.

Attwell and Oliver (on VAR) cheating in the derby by allowing Rashford's blatant offside makes it hard to believe it's not true.
Perhaps you were too busy celebrating the goal to notice at the time?
Thank you for confirming my point. As football fans we are guilty of a selective memory. That decision was a shocker and we could list examples all day. Just like me the year after, getting a very soft pen at united at 0-0. For holding at a set piece which is rarely given and the irony being we are all complaining for the pen they got at Fulham. Neither were pens to be fair but we remember the ones that go against us don't we.

Compare penalties awarded for & against the Rags in the last 50 years.
Now, that's another matter. I don't believe as much these days that they are favoured but we all probably feel they have been during other years. Going back to the original point, I was laughing at a football fan feeling hard done to by a referee. You will see that post on every single forum, even the same with Liverpool and United who we will say get special treatment.

It doesn’t, no. Unless you’re not a supporter of any club.
Not sure what more I can do then. I support City, I do not believe we are hard done to by refs (anymore)
The OP claims we always get shafted by refs and we are treated unfairly. I disagree, whilst also stating that if you spoke to any fan, of any club they will tell you the same about their club. So apparently every ref has it in for every club. Funny that

You will but let’s compare that stat & I’ll let you choose the period. 5 years or 50 years you’ll get the same discrepancy.
