Charlie Kirk shot dead at Utah university

So you want to create and make up a wild and weird scenario to try and justify what happened? The motive will be an outspoken public figure being targeted by an odd ball.
It’s like Gary lineker being shot by an angry football fan
As I said — you’re probably right but you might not be. I’m not making up anything. Cf. numerous Air India crash threads for more on this topic.

When people are saying it’s popping up on their feed, is that twitter?

If so I’m even happier I binned it off a while ago!
I sacked it off a couple of years ago.. I’d been on it from the beginning.. It certainly wasn’t good for my mental health though I do miss some of the people I’d become friends with on there..

Horrific video but feels like it was absolutely inevitable.

You have a gun loving country and a man with horrific views, purposely going to areas of said country to antagonise and upset people with opposite views.
Still no justification for it. I know you weren’t justifying him getting shot by the way, just saying there’s no need for violence over some words being said.

Oh there's been a school shooting in Colorado too.

I used to love it, my feed just got inundated by stuff completely unrelated to the people I followed or the posts I liked.

Comparing Lineker to Kirk, heard it all now.

Last debate I saw with Kitk, he was bad mouthing Martin Luther King and pushing to abolish the Civil Rights Act.

It's awful he's been shot but, that doesn't alter my view about him.
I’m comparing the idea that it’s ok to shoot someone for disagreeing with their opinion. It’s fucking lunacy. You can dislike the man. That’s not a problem and disagree with his views. I do largely. It’s just a sad world we live in where proper weirdos log on to celebrate and tell everyone how they don’t care. Proper head the balls them

I never said I don't care. I care for many reasons. It's needless violence for one. It effects his family and his friends and his colleagues, and also the people who were there to witness it.

There is no doubt going to be an escalation, the flames of which will be fanned by the usual suspects. Except for perhaps the shooter, absolutely nobody wanted or needed this.
The usual suspects minus Charlie Kirk.

I don't particularly like the guy, he didn't have anything really interesting to say, and it felt like standard Fox slop repackaged for a younger audience. Dancing on his grave is poor form though really.

I do hope he pulls through as i think it will cause more unrest over there. He does when all said and done have a young family too. But I cant believe there's people in this thread that actually like him. He makes Tommy Robinson look like the pope.

Apparently Utah State Speaker was saying:

HE'S DEAD

so thoughts and prayers didn't work..

The reports saying he was critical did seem to be some Iraqi minister levels of disinformation at the time.

It really is. Politics has become increasingly divisive and ugly in its debate though, feels like the whole world is in a powder keg at the mo.

I am so glad we live in a country where guns aren’t a factor.

You’re making up there might be a different reason outside of the blatantly obvious
There might be. You don’t know. I don’t know. Thankfully the police (or those that are good) don’t operate on what’s “blatantly obvious” — they operate on facts.

By the way — it’s also entirely possible the shooter had every legal right to a gun even in an onerous control environment. We don’t know that either.

Not trying to pick on you either — a lot of us on alI sides are reaching conclusions not yet supported by facts.

No I'm not justifying it, just always felt inevitable with guns freely available and the rise of far right views in America.

Violence over words will always have different lines in the sand and different responses for different people, from a punch in the pub to an assassination attempt.
