What has the UK become under the far right influence?

Who knows whether they've done this in some twisted attempt to adopt the song or because they were completely unaware of the links and think the lyrics resonate with their views:

Been working in Wales all week and yesterday was talking to a guy who was going to the parade, Served in the Army for 9 years 20 years with the London fire brigade. Was sick to death of people thinking it was ok for thousands to bale in illegally and be cared for while his parents who'd worked all their lives and paid into the system lost the only thing they'd ever got off the state the winter fuel allowance. Trouble is like he said when he looks in the mirror he's still dark Brown is he still a Gammon ?

Unless this guys parents started work the day they were born then they didn't work all their lives. I suppose they are still working now and don't claim state pension if the only thing they ever got off the state was winter fuel allowance?

Seeing as they arrived after WW2 from the West Indies by invitation not by birth and they both worked from the day they arrived I reckon they covered their state pensions don't you ?

Are they just getting their state pensions and have no other income? As they’d still be getting winter fuel allowance if they are.

I was only talking to him while working on his house mate not taking in his full family history only what he told me, and how proud both his parents and himself were at living in Great Britain that's why he was going to London on today's march.

If you look back over thousands of years then yes, but you can say that about every country in existence.

We had pretty much a thousand years of not being invaded and the majority of migrants coming here in that time were from Ireland, who shared similar culture and values. Then before that time and during we had celts and Britons - they didn’t just disappear. Welsh language is one of the oldest in the world for example.

Even looking at the 50s and 60s, the numbers were tiny compared to now. Yes we’ve had immigrants, but for a long time there has been a settled population, with not much immigration.

Yes, he is a Gammon. It’s an attitude of mind. Tell him that if he can sail across the channel in a dinghy, he too can spend months in a shitty hotel on £7 a day. He’ll be chuffed to bits at finally getting to live the high life.

Not sure about his parents making it across though. Guess they’ll just have to settle for the State pension and the fuel allowance. It will be tough missing out on that £7 a day each, but them’s the breaks.

And we were much happier with this low immigration in the 60’s, and no one complained at all and we lived in perfect harmony. Proper brings a tear to my eye. The good old days! Just love ‘em!
