"was", maybe. Not sure we can claim he's the best anymore, seeing as he misses more than he plays this last 18-24 months. In his prime (the run in to the treble), he was immense. Easily the best in the PL at that time. But while he'll undoubtedly still have the ability, his body just can't hack it any more. Will he play a third of our games this season?
