He did well today against some dangerous attacking players and obviously has a lot to offer defensively. He did seem to struggle when the ball was played to him and may look bad in possession against teams that play a low block. The flipside is that his pace would be invaluable against the inevitable breaks that happen when we play those teams.

Exciting to see how he will develop.

My thoughts too but once he gets used to the pace of the Prem he'll be top notch.
Just having a proper defender at right back today made a huge difference.

We played very narrow today and the right hand side was very narrow and little attacking intent as a tactic

With who we have available currently, I would play Nunes rather than Bernardo higher up on the RHS in front of Khusanov. Pep’s not going to do that because he will shoehorn Bernardo into his team.

A really solid performance from a good prospect.
He offers fierce determination backed by world-class pace and defensive awareness. He is a defender, and knows that. He can be rash, but he is young and will learn. A bit of edge is a great quality if harnessed in the right way.

I am also very interested in the development of Reis and Bah as we will potentially have, between them, aerial and physical power, control and footballing IQ, and blistering pace. Bah is starting to have some very good stats with Nice and his highlight reels are glorious. I need to see a full match of theirs.

I don’t think he’s as bad on the ball as some are making out. Granted, he’s not like TAA in possession but he doesn’t need to be. Hes replacing Walker, Rico and Nunes. Only Nunes has anything about him in possession and without being anything spectacular, just a little more progressive. Walker was fucking terrible, certainly no better than Khusanov in that regard. Rico is probably more comfortable on the ball but anyone can look comfortable when they only pass backwards.

I think he's better on the ball than some are suggesting - just needs a run of games in the position. He has shown some tidy passes and last season showed a few good long diagonals.

Hope he locks the position down - especially during games against top teams.
