United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I missed the game, ko was 1:30 am here and I had to get up early Monday.

Is there anywhere it can be watched ?

Was weird not seeing Ederson running out and attempting to clear the ball for Mbuemo's offside shot.
Somewhere Eddie lost a bit of pace/acceleration over the last year or so. At times last season I was half hoping he stays back even though that's not his or our game but his decision making and physical attributes weren't as aligned as before (if that makes sense). Somewhere I am happy we don't have a keeper who will rush out for everything and will now let the attacker do a bit more hard work to score than give an easy decision.

I’ve just been thinking. Sorry, I know that’s dangerous. Looking back, I detect a real spirit amongst our players. Despite injuries and having to get used to a new team, nobody was crying into their beer, determination was on display. Haaland had his best ever all round game for us showing great leadership, Phil looked a lot better, Doku worked really hard, Donna looked right at home. Pep was smiling! I think he was well pleased with what he saw. A long way to go but I’m optimistic; we might surprise a few this year.

Many of the rags I know stopped having an interest in football a while ago even though you'd have to draw them a map to the swamp.

The favourite excuse before they lost interest was they couldn't get a ticket.
Heard that excuse so many times. It's mad most, if not all of the Blues I know go to the match, all the rags I know can't get a ticket.

We're still in pre season mode. Players need to find full match fitness.
Also to get used to new team mates and revised tactics. We will have some ups and downs, but that is normal. Going forward I’m sure we’ll be ok.

Arrived back at my local after the match to be greeted by radio silence ! All the TVs had been turned over from the after match interviews. I think it was on something like darts. All the rags saying 'hiya mate', a little bit different from the cnuts last season when they was in my face gobbing off like only rag cnuts can. A little bit of advice from Big Steve @ 21.55

Exactly. I keep hearing from Blues and pundits about City lack of possession and we won't get away with this performance against the better sides which could well be true, but can't we just enjoy the win and ignore the noise. City played some good stuff at times, especially the first and second goals. It's going to take time we need to be patient.

United against the bigger teams want space to run into when the ball breaks. City gave them that in the derby at the Etihad last season. Sunday seemed the most expansive I’ve seen them play against us in a long time. Didn’t result in anything as our lot kept it tight.

We moan about not playing to Haaland’s strengths, on Sunday specially in the second half we did. United’s back four were suckered into going to high up the pitch and it provided the perfect environment for Haaland to run into space and receive the ball and be in on their goal. It was fantastic to watch how he out muscles his man, took the ball and provided what ever finish was needed.
