To be fair, that's one of the downsides of having a centre back and a centre midfielder taking your throw-ins. They probably hadn't taken a throw-in in their lives until they started playing full back for us.

Nico for Bernardo. Get Doku on the right, Reijnders on the left, Foden behind Haaland. Not that I think Reijnders is a LW, but he can be as effective as Bernardo is on the wing, then drop into midfield.

That's why Bernie and Foden have done all the tracking. Pep is most probably quite happy with him keeping to the space, hoping to pick up loose balls.
