Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Hope for a speedy recovery for Madueke if it is an ACL. Started really well for them. I dont think he's a massive loss for them, they've got Saka ahead of him anyway but he is a loss all the same. Stood a very good chance of being in the world cup squad too which is now surely over. Can't for the life of me pinpoint a potential cause of it, dont remember him even going down and he carried on until halftime.

Only thing I disagree with is the crowd moaning for everything. Not specific to Arsenal but i firmly believe that helps. refs do get swayed by the crowd even if they try not to be if they're constantly acting like they've been on the wrong end of a huge injustice. You can't do it all the time, but for big games it does help.
It never helps us when we're whigeing about keepers time wasting though lol!.

I feel their crowds energy is too often concentrated on moaning for every little thing instead of getting behind the team more. The second half yesterday they seemed very quiet unless Donarumma had a goal kick and then it was instant. I commented on them wasting more time taking free kicks, corners and throw ins themselves.

I think what im trying to say is a collective, fans, manager and players they spend too much emotion and energy on the wrong things. Maybe it's just how opponents see each other because United are the same, hyping every win as if its a deciding game. I said it on another post but Martinelli sliding on his knees into the corner for the equaliser. On our title runs we would have ran and got the ball. The mindset of its only a draw and not good enough for us.

Donnarumma did get booked pretty early, refs dont typically book a keeper for time wasting until approaching injury time unless the crowd kick up a fuss constantly. I think it has worked for us in the past too and for pretty much every other side also.

I definitely agree with you though that arsenal as a club spend way too much time and energy on being overly emotional, be that giddiness or anger or anything inbetween and it has a negative impact on them. Just specifically on the crowd getting on the refs back is where I think it's helpful.

I'm 100% with you on their goal celebrations, I thought it was very strange and telling. I get the sense of relief to get the goal but genuine winners get that ball, set it on the centre circle and prepare themselves for 5/6 minutes to go and win the game. Who knows if we would have crumbled as we so often did last season but thankfully we wasnt even tested.

Goalkeepers time wasting and not being given a yellow card is a bit of an issue for me that I can't seem to shake off. I've lost count of the times we as a home crowd have made our voices heard about the opposition keepers doing it. In contrast to when we are one goal in front and Ederson dares takes his time twice in a game and is carded instantly.

Since 2012/13 when we have completely dominated the English game winning 7 titles and playing some of the best football ever seen and blowing teams away where the need for us to time waste has been virtually non-existent would it surprise you to know that from 2012 - February 2023 (the only records i can find) Ederson is the joint second keeper with most yellow cards on 7 and even more crazy is that he didn't join City until 2016. And the following season 23/24 he received a further 5 yellow cards. It's nothing short of farcical. Us and Liverpool are about the only two teams in this period that hardly ever wasted much time and always wanted the ball in play.

Now we've had Donarumma in only his third game here being carded. And these yellows haven't been issued in the 89th minute like most others. We get them early on into games. It's another easy non-noticeable way of refereeing us differently It really does piss me off!

The thing and we all know it is that Arsenal have a eamand a squad that should have at least a few trophies in the last 5 years but sadly there manager is not up to it ..............with the squad of players they should go to toe with the majority of sides and win including the best but for some reason he wont let them go for it.
I mean yesterday like last season was simply all about getting one over City.

If Arteta had a pair of bollocks they'd be walking towards the title this season.

The projection from some of their fans accusing us of playing like stoke still makes me laugh as I type.
They need a change of manager. Arteta has no idea now. They have a great squad but rely on set pieces way too much for the quality they have.

During the time Ederson was getting yellow cards City regularly had some of thr highest figures for the time the ball was in play.
For the explanation for Donarumma’s relatively early yellow card just look at who the referee was.

Yes it's a total contradiction, how can a team with the ball in play the most end up with their keeper being punished the most for time wasting. It tells you everything you need to know really.

Madueke has done his ACL apparently.

Shame for them. Unfortunate.
It's not an ACL thankfully. Might be a month or so out. We've picked up at least 1 injury in every game we've played this season - thankfully Saka came back against City in the end half so we have cover - hopefully Madueke can recover properly.

I think he is a huge part of the reason they haven't won anything over the past 3/4 years. I remember them coming to the Etihad in our last title win and camping in for a 0-0 and celebrating like they'd won the champions league. We were crap that day and there for the taking and that was an opportunity for them to really take control of the title race but Arteta held them back. Happened at Anfield for them a few weeks ago. Liverpool were awful and Arsenal went there not to lose and never really went for it. If arsenal had gone for it and won that game the talk and look for the season would be very different. Typical Arteta.

That's something I've really noticed in the past few seasons. I think the crowd have been taken along on this journey with Arteta and become convinced that there's a big injustice against them. We had it last season with them kicking the ball away and getting booked then whingeing it wasn't happening to other sides as well. Such a small time mentality to be fussed over that. Just don't fucking do it, don't worry about what happens in other games.

On Sunday there was a moment which really summarised Arsenal and their fans up. Khus had gone down injured in the right wing area but the ref let the game go on and we kept passing the ball around until Doku finally let it go out in the Arsenal half. Typically you'd expect Arsenal to then throw it back to one of our defenders and then the game begins again. Instead they booted it to Donnarumma and Trossard then pressed him instantly so he picked the ball up...which then led to the Arsenal fans whingeing he'd had hold of it for too long!

Maybe it's too much too soon for him? If he'd cut his managerial teeth on a smaller club he could have gained a lot of experience before he felt confident enough to move up a notch. Because to me he looks out of his depth at times, like too much is going on at once and he's getting stressed with all the pressure. A lot of his decision making is irrational at best, and that makes me think just what is his plan, what is his thinking - basically, trying to second guess the man is futile because he doesn't seem to know himself what he's thinking.

If they got rid of him now, or perhaps a bit further into the season, he could take a break from the pressure and relax, keep away from the stresses of Prem management, and after a break come back and start again at a mid-table club.
Arsenal would benefit by getting in a more level-headed and experienced manager/coach, and perhaps just aim for a European place or a trophy for a while before aiming for the big prize with all the other juggernaut clubs.

I'm not in any way trying to disrespect the club here, but I do genuinely feel Arteta is not cut out for pressure-cooker management just yet.

First it was Wimbledon, then Stoke and now it’s Arsenal with the long ball, long throw ins, corners and free kicks. Awful team to watch and their fans ar3 arguably the biggest twats in the league with their entitlement. They are all too mentally unstable and that starts at the top with Arteta.

I get what you are saying and agree about Arteta. I do think it is a bit of myth that the draw at our place that year cost them the title. We was there for the taking, agreed but ultimately they got a draw at a place they normally lose at. They got slapped the year before and it is all about readjusting. A bit like we did on Sunday. Everybody talks up having to go to your rivals and winning to be contenders, how many times did we win at Anfield when we won the league? Once. You need to be consistent against the shit and that is what let Arsenal down the last few years. You do need to try and stamp some authority down in them home games though I would say, and take the game to your opponent.
