26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Imo, Savinho will have a pretty good season.

Two weeks ago Doku was treated like Savinho. Many are jumping to conclusions.

I think Savinho is a year behind Doku in his development and will probably have a season like Doku last year - ie a frustrating one for fans but he’ll probably grow a lot and hopefully in 6 months to a year he’ll start really contributing with goals and assists.

If he really were that poor, why would we be keeping him and why would Spurs be considering spending quite so much on him? Could it be that the people who work in football professionally know more than the amateur dabblers here? Surely not…

This is a really shit argument no matter what you think of Savinho.

Football clubs waste huge amounts of money on shit players every single window.

“If he were really that poor Why did Arsenal pay 80m for Pepe, maybe the people who work in football professionally know better?”

Prefer him on the left wing than on the right, can get on the outside to cross.
Haaland would have had a field day last night.
He's still way behind the other players who play wing/ attacking mid but useful for games like last night.

Needed that goal and like all players and younger ones they do need confident boosters! If he now come of the bench get a goal or an assists eventually he will be a quality player for us

People forget he came in last summer into a team that were finished and had a season of struggles. He played 1770 minutes equal to 19.5 league games provided 10 assists and a goal, his goal ratio does need improvement but he creates chances, he had more goal involvements than Phil.

Looked good in the CWC and then got injured. Pep and the management see him daily and I'm sure if any of them had doubts about his ability he'd be at Spurs and we'd have had 70m in the bank.

I see that many of X have started a hate campaign against him.

I think he’s a gifted young footballer. His first start of the season last night and he did well. He gave their full back a hard time all game, I know they are in league one but we’ve seen so far in this years carabao cup that the lower league clubs aren’t doing to bad against prem teams.

I’d like our fans to support our young players, especially the ones that are either just breaking through and haven’t played much or the players that haven’t been at City for long. There’s nothing better than an academy player or a young signing blossoming into a superstar.

Don’t think it’s a shit argument. It’s a valid point but of course transfers are not always successful. Spurs were desperate to sign him according to reports. There were also reports Barca were watching him closely.

Pep's reaction when he was subbed was pretty cool compared to his warm embraces of Foden & O'Reilly - ignored him completely actually by choosing to chat with Gonzo instead. I await accusations of manufacturing evidence of discord where non exists and am probably guilty.

I actually thought he was laying into Nico G. but hard to know with Pep.

I think when you compare Savinho and Doku the difference is down to attitude. Savinho's body language is awful, laying into players when he does a mispass, ducking out of 50/50s etc I have the same feeling with him as I did with Cancelo and we know how that turned out.

Obviously I want him to do well and really kick on, but he needs get his head down, recognise he's far from the finished article and commit to contributing to this team.

I think he had a good game and wasn't even bad in the first half. His first touch is really good and he had the fullbacks number all game and din't lose the ball much I think? Crossing with Mukasa, Foden isn't going to help much and I think thats what we changed in the second half and he got into scoring positions more.

Hates it here, clearly.

Had a good game and scored a goal, the one weakness in his game as we all agreed.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do from the right wing with the amount of chaos and confusion Doku can make on the left.

Glad he finally got a goal but I thought there was a real lack of care (or is it just ability?) in his end product, cross after cross just not going anywhere near where it needed to be lol

Hopefully he can kick on and continue to improve his output, he needs to

Against Huddersfield - lucky goal - but an overall very poor performance.

Huddersfield is 2 leagues below us - and against such opposition, Savinho should have shined.

Instead he was unable to beat his defender most times - and when he did or when played into an open position - he often failed to make the obvious pass. Instead, he most often plays the ball into space where hopefully an attacker might be, instead of forming a picture of the pitch and playing the ball into a position were an attacker is or will be.

I am not judging him against a League 1 team but still very early into the season for him, and if anything he is still in pre-season.

Still unconvinced his style of play suits the modern direction Pep wants to go down which Doku has really embraced.

His biggest weakness which I really hope he gets out of his game, and it's one of the things Antony struggled with at United, and it's getting the ball, stopping and trying to get the game played at his pace. The PL is a transition league at the moment and that type of move doesn't work here as well as it did 5-10 years ago.

I think he’s got a hell of a shot on him when he can get into the right position. That hasn’t been often b it I hope he can kick on after this.
I like to back the lads. I have to admit theres something about Sav’s attitude I havent always liked recently. But I think he has the talent, just isn’t quite there yet with position. Hopefully hes humble enough about that to accept the coaching he needs to bring him on
