That makes me think of when my dad used to get home after a 2.00-10.00 shift... First thing he'd do was put the chip pan on, go upstairs to change, then come down to make a pile of chip butties for both of us.

My mum made me chips like that every time I visited right up to her death in 2022. Broke my heart throwing out the chip pan when we cleared the house.

I can remember going in the Amusements at Knott End (it's a Cafe now) and playing one of these as a 5/6 year old to win single cigarettes for my mum.

Hehe - Mine was orange - seemed like a great idea at the time, until your mates with racers complained about having to wait for you at the top of any decent hill...I edged a little closer on Saturday by turning 62.
I would have posted then but I forgot.
It would have been the 50th aniversary of the day I got this bad boy.

I've recently been explaining this culinary delight to Mrs Ewing but, alas she is NOT taken with the idea. We used to have sugar butties as a 'dessert'!
I still cook my chips in a chip pan and will until I can no longer do so. I don’t use beef dripping like my dear Mum though.
