Dundee school obtain tickets for Liverpool game

I hope everyone complaining about not being able to buy a ticket for a “big” game against Liverpool is buying one of the hundreds and hundreds of tickets still available for the more mundane game against Burnley this weekend?

There’s loads of coaches coming to that one too.
City telling the legacy fans, ‘we’ve given thousands of tickets to touting agencies and random schools hundreds of miles away for our biggest game of the season, buts it’s alright you can still go to the Burnley match’

;)

Another masterstroke from our club, piss local fans off and bring in a coach load of Scottish fans, ( probably more schools involved as well ) who more than likely have a stronger alliance to the murderers.
And they wonder why fans are turning their backs on the club.

The rags have a partnership with Werneth School, also in Romiley, and are very active with coaching sessions, tickets etc.

It's such a simple and basic thing to do in order to attract kids and get their brand in the face of impressionable youngsters.

City may well do similar things with other schools for all I know, but on the surface it looks like City don't really care for local support and, as others have already said, just want bums on seats who are willing to spend money.

We definitely used to do it as I used to get rags telling me it was how we filled our stadium all the time. I was of the age to get those 95 quid under 16 seasoncards when they did those aswell. They were great!

Bit of an odd comparison. I think genuine fans are perfectly entitled to ‘complain’ about access to tickets when large numbers of tickets are going to touting websites and school kids in Scotland.

School kids who more than likely don’t support city get access to one of our biggest games. Why shouldn’t actual city fans get that same chance of attending our biggest games?

You could flip your argument and say why aren’t those school kids attending the Burnley game instead? Or is it not glamorous enough
The touts in question have been named in the school’s letter

Manchester City Group Ticketing Department

Reason they were able to get the tickets

They could meet the high prices being asked for the group ticket requirement!!

I don't agree that for games against the top 5 that City should be entertaining school groups like this..but saying that for many years (apart from the last 2) we regularly had a coach full of Scottish school kids at the back on EL3 in Block 208.

Honestly some of those 12 year olds knew more of what was happening on the pitch than the tourists who used to appear around us each week and even got involved in chanting. There always was the odd Rag or Dipper in the group but I found the Sweaties used to put them right themselves.

Apart from one game when about 50 kids made paper airplanes and launched them every few minutes.

I agree mate. I'm just commenting that we do a lot of it with Scottish schools in particular. I was once told that we are actively targetting Scottish kids to be their English team. Whether you want to call it "developing the fanbase" or "maximising turnover" is up to you.

And yes, if fucking annoys me as well bearing in mind the club have refused my sons a season ticket and I have to get in a scrum for tickets for them for a game like this. They didn't even get United tickets. They could be the third generation of weekly match goers in my family but because of the club's stupidity they are getting out of the habit of going and have even got Saturday jobs.
It’s abysmal isn’t it? I’m really fortunate and my son has his season ticket next to me. He’s approaching the time where he’s considering university applications- I’ve not factored in that he might have to give up his ticket as I want his / our decision to be based purely on educational grounds but I’m half-secretly hoping he wants to go somewhere commutable every other weekend. ‘Cos I know that once that ticket is given up, it ain’t never coming back.
You have my sympathy on this. “Even when another generation…” they just won’t be there. Criminal

Did they get banned for tragedy-thened actions?

Surely the Flexi-Gold fixes your problem. I wish they had that when mine went to uni, I’m still trying to get his back 7 years later.

Surely if it's their mistake they have to correct it , dont they ??

Emails being bounced back and to and the representatives City have can't understand anything. They keep going on about "numbers may change" the girls number hasn't changed....

My complaint just keeps getting passed around

Why though? Loads of schools around greater Manchester don’t get any tickets. There often full of actual city fans in some of the most deprived areas, who would love to go to city games.

I don’t understand the long term strategy, when we have a ready made next generation of fans right on our door step, who are often ignored.

I’m sure Dundee would love to grow their fanbase as well.

Do you attend games?

Take it in and threaten to shove it down the store managers throat.

Lol, I was just gonna suggest something similar !

If you took it in midweek, when there's no game on and they've got time to do something about it .. ask them to correct it as she's upset, and i reckon they probably would ..... or a few hours before kick off when its pretty quiet ..... they might have to get the store bosses permission first, but tell em' you bought it for your daughters birthday or something like that, and just stand there lookin' adamant, until they do something about it ... don't forget to take any receipts you got though.

Don't let them fob you off with of that 'numbers may change' rubbish .... that could happen to any printed shirt they sell, men's or women's!

I wouldn't even bother with emails, you'll just get passed from pillar to post ... just show up there with it and put them on the spot ... they'll probably do it for you just to get a bit of peace, and get you out of the place!!

That's if you don't live too far away of course!

I'm there on Saturday. My last email stated I'll be in on Saturday to see the manager after the game. It's a kids shirt, honestly she's gutted and while we're trying to get kids, especially girls (we're season ticket holders for the women's) to support City stuff like this just sets the club back.

Why should the City fans buy tickets for Burnley ?
We saw in our treble season how loyal fans were fucked over for the Madrid game. It was OK for these fans to buy tickets for the league phase but when it came to the knock out stages....... open house, fuck loyalty.
You want loyal Blues to buy Burnley tickets but be happy to watch the dippers on sky because school kids have got the tickets.

Loyalty is a 2 way thing but it seems in short supply at City's end.
