And yes; I agree about the quality of the players. Celtic are Championship level (even our resident bhoy has acknowledged that they've been meh this season), and as for Rangers; they're borderline Championship/League One level. The table doesn't lie. The gulf between the top half of the Championship and the old firm is huge. You could even say, er, "massive"! It doesn't matter who your manager is, if you've got a bunch of chancers playing for you, you're screwed.

And yes; I agree about the quality of the players. Celtic are Championship level (even our resident bhoy has acknowledged that they've been meh this season), and as for Rangers; they're borderline Championship/League One level. The table doesn't lie. The gulf between the top half of the Championship and the old firm is huge. You could even say, er, "massive"! It doesn't matter who your manager is, if you've got a bunch of chancers playing for you, you're screwed.

We get better, then our board of scamps, sell our best players for good money, bank the money and expect us to be just as good and anyway, Its those bad clubs who won't sell their best players for £2.5m.

Its very vexing for gentle souls such as I. If we had beat that Kazak domino team, with our window, the CL would have annihilated us and I too would be joining No 8 walking the earth. Bottom line is, I am not confident of making the cut in the EL. The next two home games will let us know. Don't win both and its pull the curtains time and pretend to be French. Its either that or a straightjacket.

Fair point. But be honest, could you compete with the clubs at the top of the Championship on a weekly basis, not in a one-off cup game?

Just seen the highlights this morning on YouTube didnt watch live.

Conceding the same gilt edges chances over and over and over again. Still. It's embarrassing, barely even schoolboy stuff. Surely can't be that hard to fix. Blows my mind how a guy who spent his career as a defender can't see that the defensive setup he's created here is absolute murder. Every single time. I know he wasn't exactly the most distinguished player but he operated at a decent level so you'd like to think he'd have learned a thing or two about how to not absolutely leave your backline completely hung out to dry.

It's actually ridiculous now. That team last night was 14th in the Belgian league. 14th. They should have had 4 or 5. Going a man down isn't an excuse for continually leaving yourselves massive exposed at the back. If anything you should tighten up.

I've no idea what Russell Martin is trying to achieve other than a big payoff at this point.

We finished in the Top 8 of last seasons Europa League group and have competed consistently for quite a few seasons at a far higher standard than the Championship

It’s all ifs buts and maybes and in the Championship our finances would be different so nobody knows. Always a difficult league to get out of

What I’d say is at present with Martin in charge I wouldn’t tip us to compete at any level. The new board have made a monumental error in judgement and the good will they had in the beginning is fast disappearing. They needed to remove him after the Hearts debacle. If he’s not gone by the next international break another season has passed us by

In the last 4 years we've had 3 very solid europa campaigns, getting to the last 16, quarter finals and the final. Obviously the champions League season was what it was but at Europa level we've been very strong.

That looks like it's completely out of the window now for this season already after 1 game.

Miserable.

And I've acknowledged on here (several times) that comparing your European performances to the domestic ones is chalk and cheese. You punch above your weight in Europe. Why that is, is a mystery. The league is your bread and butter. In your position, that should be your priority.

I noticed Panathinaikos and Plzen both won away from home last night.

If the board act quickly (they won’t) this season is still salvageable

An adequate manager would have this squad comfortably competing for all three trophies. So frustrating having Martin there holding the whole club back.

They must have found a striker who could score after passing up about 20 gilt edge chances against you. They looked the far superior football team, not a high bar with your mob, but couldn't score in a brothel.

Even the other night, it should have been 5. Next week should be interesting. Drop any points on Sunday and that will be it. I think the reason he is still there, is your board are sounding out options. As soon as they get a new messiah and you have a bad game, that's when the trigger is pulled. To have no one lined up and an interim Murty is required, will make them look pathetic. Change is coming. But not until Stevie G or boring Dykes say they will join. Even Barry Straws has thrown his Ski Mask into the mixer.

I’d say both are our level so you should be looking to get 4 points from these games. I’d take an away draw next Thursday

That is the only reason that makes any semblance of sense at this point. Because he's certainly not still in the job on merit.

You have to be really hated for that to be the reaction at full time. No wonder he scarpered down the tunnel rapido at full time.
