11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Stepped up proper. Improved immensely this season. His decision making has gotten so much better. Carry on lad.

I'm very excited about the prospect of teams trying to defend against us with Jeremy and Cherki in the side - unpredictable, electric both with football smarts.

He is a very clever player.

He's also quietly improved dramatically off the ball especially defensively...

Looks like the penny has dropped. The more direct he is the better he will be. Isolate him with the RB and he should take him on every time, never pass backwards, unless knackered. There's a touch of old school winger about him now, get the ball, run the FB, cause chaos.

The signs were there late last season. That brilliant assist vs Villa that clinched the Champions League was sheer electricity. Every right back is going to be justifiably terrified facing him.

Love how much quicker he has been in the last few games to get moving. As soon as he's gets the ball, boom, he's off. Doesn't let defenders settle. Brilliant execution, too, of course

A great example of why many people caution against blithely dubbing any young player as 'shit', but especially young wingers like Doku. Also a great example of why Guardiola is considered the best attacking coach on the planet, and one of the greatest in terms of player improvement.

Savinho and Bobb next in line for the developmental jump.

He’s basically doing now what everybody wanted him to do, be more direct, cut out the ‘beat the man, stop, try to beat him again’ thing, and quite simply go for it. It works. Long may it last.

I think what's helping Doku is the team/ Guardiola evolving. The team is settled, there's no in, then out with Guardiola's overthinking/ tinkering. That's not a sleight on Guardiola, that's down to the 'Yes Men' he had previously, in that his new coaches are willingly to challenge that thinking and it's bringing unexpected benefits. I think you can see this in Guardiola's own self realisation that he overthinks and, thus, affecting players like Doku.

Anyway, not to steer off topic, the reason why I came here; to note the very recent Internet love-in...

Pep deserves credit , but i do think it's Lijnders that's done the most with Doku and why he's improved so much, a few dippers fans have said that klopp and Lijnders wanted Doku as the long term Mane replacement.

A few even though they hate Lijnders now, say that he was influential in their attacking front three. With the training drills he would have the wingers do. Emphasis on dribbling and taking on defenders, taking the risk.

Whenever Doku does anything good a assist or goal Pep immediately goes to Lijnders when celebrating. Yesterday he did the same, Doku assist went straight to Lijnders.

Exactly what Doku has showed this season less being safe and taking the risk.
