Will we win the league this season?

We lost 2 games while getting up to speed after no preseason with what appears to be a new set up. We will lose a couple more over the season but we will improve also . Based on the last few games it's clear we are still a good side. Not treble winning quality but a good side none the less. Haaland is going to be key. We won't be walking the league but I think we will be challenging which is exactly where we need to be

I think the signing of Gigi is absolutely massive and it’s showing in our performances and the players are enjoying it again . Let’s just go game by game and concentrate on 90 mins

Or we lost to 2 half decent teams and beat shit ones including a 10 man Napoli? Burnley, who are 17th, held their own against us for 60-70 minutes yesterday and the 5-1 flattered us. It reminds me of last seasons start where our results (8 wins and 2 draws) were papering over the cracks until mid October when we got just 1 win in 13.
Hope your right though.

He's right.

Many new players, players returning from bad injuries, no proper preseason... If we don't have another bad injury crisis like last season, we'll improve and compete.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were very close to the top come February and in top 3 in the CL after the first phase.

What's more, I wouldn't be surprised if we put in some fantastic performances and people started to consider us favourites. The squad is excellent but needs time to perform to its huge potential.

It's difficult to see us getting to the magic 90 points mark, but I can't see Liverpool or Arsenal getting there either.

A few players still injured and should be back after the next set of international games. If we can get Cherki weaving his magic and putting in a shift it may be a good season

Liverpool's underlying numbers have been really poor, as have large portions of their performances. So far they've found no real use for 100 million pound Wirtz. Their defensive organisation is poor, and their game out of possession looks to have regressed massively since last season. In short, they are currently trending in the wrong direction. None of that is to say that they won't improve, I'm sure they will. But they're miles from being the formidable side that people assumed they'd be because they spent a lot of money on Wirtz, Isak, and Ekitike.

It's far too early to be writing City off as genuine challengers IMO. We're trending in the right direction, and more importantly, we've recovered a lot of the intangibles that made us record breakers so often. It's also worth remembering that in almost every title winning season we've had, there's been moments before the turn of the new year where the same people same have said the same stuff about our general play not being good enough. The truth is you need consistency of results. Consistency of performance comes later.

A bold prediction about a team with 3 wins a draw and 2 losses, I do wonder if you would make it about any other team in the same position. But I hope your right.

It's not a bold prediction, just common sense.

Imo, we'll be a bit like Doku the last 6 weeks: looking well off the pace and then looking fantastic.

We have as good a chance as anyone. We get a better idea after 10 games.

There is no team in the PL performing well enough to suggest they will run away with it.

I think Brentford game is huge now. Win that and the narratives will shift massively, and more importantly, Liverpool and Arsenal will start getting squeaky bums about City. But first thing's first, we have to go there and win.

Agree. Liverpool have also been a mess defensively so far and that's before any first choice players get injured. Which they will at some point.

If we can get 86 points theres a chance.

could there be a surprise contender?

Not a chance a team outside us, Liverpool and Arsenal could go above 80 pts. And I think at least 2 from these two teams will win 80+ pts. Palace may dream about being the new Leicester but I'd very very surprised if they could win 65 pts.

Interesting that none of the PL big signings have hit the ground running and there doesn't seem to be an outstanding team

Hopefully we'll start to see more options on the bench after the next International Break and then the season will start to take shape.
Until then we're only a Haaland injury away from a complete tactical reshuffle.

I expect Arsenal to win the title because they have an insanely strong squad.

But City look like we are getting stronger. I am expecting a top 3 of Liverpool, Arsenal and City to emerge.

City still have Cherki, a fit Rodri and Marmoush to come in. I no longer look at the City squad and imagine us being outfought or outpaced at the back.

When Ait-Nouri comes back, can we / should we play O'Reilly in midfield?

If we get our noses in front at any point it’s curtains for the rivals.

LFC are one injury away from big defensive crisis.
