To be fair if you read most of the comments on here, we are nowhere near challenging. It’s only me and a few others who think we will challenge them.

I think we’ll challenge. Played no worse than either of them.. just haven’t had the luck and we’re effectively only just getting out of pre season mode due to that silly club World Cup. They carry on like this and there’s every chance we eclipse them if we start purring.

3 good players who haven't played this season to return in early October.

Our form, fitness, condition and rhythm is steadily returning without yet hitting our straps.

Peps willingness to be pragmatic in tactics and selections.

These and other factors indicate that we can tuck in and keep picking up points without pressure until the first round of the CL finishes.

Then we can power up through winnable fixtures in November,December & January.

Currently, there is no reason why we should be right in contention, the games again dippers/arse being decisive !!
 
As much as I hate United, I think the dribble put out by Barney Ronay about Amorim (yeah I know he's a wankstain) just isn't journalism. It's the kind of spiel someone says in the pub while searching for laughs. It's hilarious he's the Guardian's chief sports writer

Agree . And it's ironic that he berates Amorin for his anti - energy when , week after week, his team of "analytical" football journalists ( I'm not including the old fashioned regional journeyman Jamie Jackson , who at least consistently sticks to an Up United Bash City script ) produce Black Holes of negativity week after week . His writing, larded with unnecessary metaphor and simile, is the journalistic equivalent of Antony doing his 360 degree twirl . Pointless and getting nowhere .
