Becoming a Grandparent

It’s happening to us in January. First one
I’m only 55 far too young ;)
I was only 24 when I became a parent

New chapter about to commence, daughter panicking about getting the 10 games in!!
It will be fine, the issue atm is the walk from the car and back

Team choice obviously no doubt whatsoever

As posted be someone earlier, being married to a granny is little concerning ;)

I wish I was 5 years younger and id have an extra 5 years with him. Congratulations its a great age to become a Grandad. It might not feel.it now but when it happens you will be glad of it. Best wishes to you, your daughter and Granny Maccblue.

Congratulations @Blue2112 Brilliant sentiments that I can relate to so much. However wait until you become a Great-Grandparent (a long way off I know) that is an even more exciting and thrilling experience. Especially when, as happened to me last week, your eldest great-granddaughter shows you how to fix your iPad and sorts out a problem on your iPhone!! At 12yrs old!!
Wonderful how your heart grows and grows to love them all and be so proud of them all. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. :-) ;-) Enjoy and keep enjoying.

Thanks Great Granny Eccles Blue. Not sure I'll make it as far as great grandad but you never know fingers crossed.

Congrats Josh.

We did it in March 2023, so we now have a rapidly growing and very intelligent grandson, who still has 2 great grandparents too.

We don't get to see him too often currently, but that should change soon, as we are hoping to move nearer soon having both retired. I can't really remember the developments of our own kids (I think you are just too deeply involved), but we're both thoroughly enjoying watching his development, from baby to young boy, and I think seeing him every 2 to 4 weeks is actually in some ways better, as every time there is a noticable change, and we can spend time doing things with him, which his busy parents don't have time for.

It's brilliant, a few weeks ago he watched me cook a meal, and I was giving him raw carrot as I was cutting up the veg, he loved it, and now asks dad for it from the fridge. I showed him bee's going to flowers about a year ago, he loves bee's, so many things you can share, that mum and dad probably don't really have time for.

Enjoy.

Nice one Paul. I keep saying to Clare 'I know this sounds really bad but I can't remember this with our girls' like you say you're too involved. We have so many plans for him we need to rein ourselves in LOL!!!

Yeah but you also have the many other pressures of life on top at the time. Don't rein it in, just enjoy every moment as you can.

I can't wait for his first game, but it will be a while yet I expect.

You’re all going to laugh now and say stupid old woman but I am so envious of you all starting out on the grand parental road.
You have soooo much to look forward to. Please don’t take it for granted. Enjoy and savour and cherish every minute with those young ‘uns because they grow so quickly and time passes so fast. :-) :-)

Just make sure they all support a certain football team!!!! ;-)
