Football facts that you didn’t know

The 1966 World Cup Finals
All games played in London were at Wembley - except one.
One game was played at White City speedway stadium in West London, because Wembley had already been booked that day to host a greyhound meeting!

Of the 8 stadiums used for the tournament only 4 remain hosting football league / Premier League games

Wembley, The Swamp, Villa Park, Hillsborough

Long gone
Ayresome Park / Roker Park, White City, Goodison Park* (yes I know the ground is still standing and hosting Women’s games)

Any reason why?
Johan Cruyff refused to wear the standard three-stripe Adidas kit for the Netherlands during the 1974 World Cup because of his personal sponsorship deal with Puma. To respect his commitment to Puma, Cruyff wore a bespoke Dutch national team jersey with only two stripes, ensuring it didn't conflict with his exclusive contract

At this moment in time Florian Wirtz is the biggest £100m + flop the Premier league has seen

Re Barca never having beaten Dundee, Real Madrid have never beaten Arsenal in a competitive match

Crystal Palace also don't play in Crystal Palace anymore (Selhurst).

I don't know if it's still true but CR7 and Ibrahimovic were the only players to score in every minute of a football game.
