I collected some in the 50s. The first one was Sam Bartram, Charlton keeper.
They came with bubble gum.
One Christmas Day the fixture against Chelsea was abandoned but nobody told poor Sam who stood guarding his goal after all the players and spectators had left.
I went to a foggy game and City scored at the far end. The chant went up…I can remember us at Middlesbro' randomly cheering in the fog where we could only see the far edge of the near penalty area for half the game.
If it wasn't a cup tie the game would have been called off.
